| SIDE SHOW
More than 30 ceramic works by Sam Thurston are currently paired with acrylic-on-linen paintings by Winslow Myers in the Helen Day Art Center’s East Gallery, on view through March. It is the first of a three-part series at the Stowe venue entitled “Interpreting Nature.” Myers creates abstract compositions out of expressive landscapes, and Thurston’s forms — particularly his portrait busts — are classically graceful. While the exhibition in the Main Gallery, “Fine Toon: The Art of Vermont Cartoonists,” has been stealing the limelight, this quieter but appealing show should not be overlooked.
