The author seems very keen to associate the police with the community. Community is in the eye of the beholder. Since "community" has more in common with artwork than policing, might you consider rebranding the police to the Burlington Cezanne Police Department, or the Shelburne Da Vinci Police, or Hinesburg Picasso Police, or Colchester Matisse Police (I like it), and Winooski Rembrandt Police? The officers uniforms could be made from duplicate canvas from famous paintings. Really, I would just like the police to be the police!

I believe you forgot to mention that Brandon del Pozo wrote a scholarly paper enthusiastically supporting racial profiling by police. In that paper he also defended "Stop and Frisk" tactics. He has a long way to go before he earns the trust of our community. Here is the link to his paper….
