Re: “Positive Pie (Montpelier)

UNBELIEVABLY BAD. They were doing so well for months and months... then- KABOOM it all came tumbling down. Still decent slices at noontime, although the long line is not because the pizza is so good, but because the service is sloooooooooooooooooooooooo. If you order a pizza at night, however, chances are that you wont be able to eat it. They have no idea at all how to make their signature pies anymore, and if they think that the customers wont know the difference between mozzarella cheese and whey (which is what they now use on their pies)... well good luck! Every bite of pizza ended up as a tough hunk of waxy whey that had to be spit out. Shame on Positive Pie! Last time I was there at night I noticed that no one was having pizza... everyone was eating sandwiches. Makes sense.

When Ms Zevon ran LACE she pretty much ruined the whole thing for local farmers. Keeping on about her dead dad does nothing to disguise the real problem - Ariel herself. My wife's organization , based in Barre and consisting of around 17 employees, really wanted to support the place but PLEASE and THANK YOU were not in Ariel's vocabulary and they stopped their staff meeting lunches there.

The Peacham location will fail unless Arial gets a personality and stops feeling that her father gives her some sort of hip menu that we should all flock to.

We are wing junkies and were super psyched to read about this "great" place. It was awful! I have to admit, I am a bit concerned with who is rating this. If it is the only joint in town, skip the category! First, the ambience was dull, the lady taking our order got it wrong (and the two orders after ours), the garlic parmesan dry rub was chalky and lacked any depth of flavor. The wings we got with a wet sauce were boring. The ranch and blue cheese dips, that accompanied the wings, were in little plastic foil-topped containers and contained MSG. To top off the experience, we got to listed to the chatty girls at the register count down the minutes till they were off work, instead of emptying the overflowing trash.

If you feel like wasting time and money, I would highly recommend going to this poor excuse of a restaurant. If I could give this restaurant negative stars, I would.

We have been to the McGillicuddy's On The Green a few times since we live in the complex the restaurant is located in. The first time we went in, we left and said that we would never go back. We both ordered burgers, they took an extremely long time and were disgustingly overcooked. Service wasn’t that great either.

We went back a second time, as we had heard that the food and service were a lot better from a co-worker. Well, it was a little better. We ordered burgers again, and they came out cooked much better. The service was a little better also.

Our last and final time chance for McGillicuddy's On The Green was just a disaster. We went in and were seated. Our server appeared approximately 10 minutes later, took our drink orders, brought our drinks over and walked away. We closed our menus hoping that he would take a hint and come take our food orders. No such luck. 30 minutes later we decided that it was time to leave. It was very nice of a few of the employees to thank us on our way out, although I’m not sure what exactly we were being thanked for.

I hope that our server had fun talking to all of his friends on his phone and I also hope that his team won their game, since the tv was more entertaining then serving his customers. Thanks for walking by us a couple times to play on the computer too.

If you’re looking for somewhere better to eat and drink, try the Bowling Alley in Colchester. It has the same frozen food that you’ll find at McGillicuddy's, but the service and atmosphere is a lot better.

The owners of the Guilty Plate Diner in Colchester should feel guilty over the extremely poor breakfast service that was provided by their staff on the morning of June 13th.
After reading several reviews of this dinner from Seven Days, social media and online restaurant review sites the decision was made to invest in the time and gas to drive out to the Bay to try this place out.
Upon entering the dinner the first thing noticed was how disturbingly loud this establishment is. The interior has high ceilings, stand alone booths and industrial walls. The dining room is effectively an echo chamber. There is nothing to absorb the sound. A semi full dining room served up an overwhelming loud clatter from the reverberation of unimpeded noise bouncing around.
As this was a solo meal I opted for a seat at the counter, just to the left of the open kitchen window. It is always a plus to be able to see how the line staff operates. What wasn’t a plus were the several waitresses who were hanging by the window and counter area catching up on their texting and cell phone obligations.
It was a cool, damp morning. Steak and eggs were the order of the day. The stout, young waitress took my order. Steak medium, eggs over medium, white toast with double extra butter and on a special request I asked for grilled onions on my home fries. Not an unusual request by most standards.
After getting through the Burlington Free Press my server presented my order. On a large platter were my steak, eggs, toast and a small plastic cup with extra butter. On a separate plate were the home fries. But they were naked home fries. There were no grilled onions.
I pointedly asked my server, “Didn’t I order grilled onions on my home fries?” She looked at her ticket and replied yes. She then took the plated home fries back to the kitchen window and, presumably, asked for the grilled onions.
The expectation was that the home fries would be back shortly but that wasn’t to be the case. After ten minutes the home fries had not arrived. The balance of the uneaten breakfast was now cold and unappetizing.
After catching the server’s attention she came over. Telling her it was a mistake to come in this morning I pointed out the lack of the breakfast potatoes being served at all and the now cold platter of eggs, toast and steak. She seemed shocked, shocked I tell you, especially when I walked on this dismal service.
Chef Ramsey, from Hell’s Kitchen, could certainly have a field day correcting this operation. This diner is loud in an unappealing way, waitresses should find a better place to do their texting than at the front counter and the servers need to do their job correctly.
There are better places trying harder that deliver a quality dining experience than this place. You should seek out those other establishments.

Terrible food will not go there again. Recently gave Honey Thia another shot after having several mediocre eat-in dinning experiences. Ordered 2 meals online for takeout, one with chicken and one with tofu. Both were made with chicken. Rather than go pickup a correct order I asked for a refund since the food was so poorly prepared and flavor terrible. The refund was made after they checked the order I placed online.

Bad Bad Bad Service.
We visited Our House again after some time in hopes that maybe things have turned around at this place. But it was just as bad as it had been before. The host told us that it would be a 30 minute wait even though there were four tables open. We were a two top mind you and the remaining tables were 4 tops but it was a week night and almost 8pm. We left. After picking up a quick bite next door, we noticed that they never sat all four tables before we left.

It pains me that this is a go-to spot for out-of-towners. Poor quality of ingredients, unimaginative menu, and undervalued staff leave a sad picture of the quality of food you can get in Burlington's vibrant food scene. This is the type of restaurant that you could find in any town USA.

Another "bite" to eat for dinner at the Apollo tonight. Ordered a club sandwich, in which the bacon was not even heated. It was taken out of a cooler and put right on my sandwich. Fries were cold, as the food had been sitting, waiting to be picked up by our waitress. $10.00 for this.
My spouse ordered a sandwich and when it was brought to the table, it was totally NOT what he ordered. He ate it anyway, but we have decided this restaurant is BANISHED.
We were given no straws by our Southern Belle waitress, no silverware and were not even asked if our meals were satisfactory. Oh, and the silverware I wwas given was dirty.
So, a club sandwich and a half a sandwich and cup of soup totaled $24.00 with a tip we felt wasn't deserved. Does this sound reasonable? NO. It sucked and we won't be returning. HOW this place stays in business is beyond me.

I have only eating there once and i think its the worst place ever more worst then taking your meals in a street on the pavement. The server was rude and the place is falling apart from outside in. I would not feed my dog the left over as a matter of fact i throw them out. So if you want to die from a heart problems then by all mean eat there.

I decided to try Firebird Cafe for the first time yesterday. The place was busy and each one of us in our party of three had a meal that tasted great. The feeling of enjoying a great meal was quickly ruined by what I saw and experienced. A party of three sat behind us - one of the gentleman was in Military Uniform. They had recently finished their meal and continued to visit with one another - seemingly enjoying each other's company. About half way through our meal a Firebird employee came to their table and asked them if they could leave because they didn't have enough space for other patrons to sit down. I regret not speaking up in the moment or being quicker on my toes but I froze from being so appalled. The look on the Serviceman's face is still stuck in my head. I left wishing that I spoke up sooner to give up our table or perhaps catch his name tape to send him a gift certificate to another establishment that might value and appreciate his business more. For what I can only imagine he has sacrificed for all of us; I am so disappointed that the Firebird couldn't sacrifice the time that they deserved to fully experience your establishment. I know I left feeling very unimpressed and I would have to imagine they did too.

Came here after being evacuated from the Majestic 10 due to a fire alarm. Ordered beers & poutine. The latter was just plain depressing -- pale white French fries reminded me of my high school's cafeteria. Not sure they were actually fried, tasted like they had been baked. Pros: Decent beer selection, a surplus of TV's. Food: 1 Ambiance: -1 Service: -1

I have no idea why this restaurant gets good ratings. The service is bad, the food is bad (they microwave the ribs such that, sure, they're 1,000 degrees, if that's your thing, but they also have the consistency of fiber board. The disappointing entrees arrived 20 minutes before the appetizers, which were forgettable when they finally showed up after the entrees were long since eaten. Yes, even the service was bad. The sauce at the table has the consistency of water. It's not just me - I know about a half dozen people who've eaten there - all have the same dismal opinion. Unless a restaurant is egregiously bad in more than one category, I'll give it a second chance. I will never walk into this establishment again. Food: 1 Ambiance: 2 Service: 1

This place looks like a greasy spoon Chinese, but sometimes those are ok tasting. This was not. We were trying to eat cheaply, so we bought a couple of the specials: pork fried rice with 3 appetizers and sweet and sour chicken. The fried rice was dry and bland, and the egg roll, spring roll, and chicken fingers were all equally tasteless. The chicken fingers were tiny strips of chicken which had been coated with about a half-inch of doughy stuff before deep-frying, so were really pasty and greasy. The Peking ravioli also had too much breading, so they were somewhat pasty, but better than the chicken fingers and with a decent flavor. The sweet and sour chicken, rather than being pieces of chicken and vegetable in a sauce, as I expected, was just the chicken fingers and a cup of supersweet sticky sauce to dip them in. The woman at the counter was very friendly, but her English wasn't good enough to answer any of our questions about items on the menu. The food was ready quickly and was inexpensive, but otherwise this was a pretty miserable experience. Food: 1 Ambiance: 1 Service: 2

Skip the Whip
It was Restaurant Week in Stowe, which in theory is an opportunity to experience the best a kitchen has to offer. Unfortunately, the Whip failed first in the kitchen, the even more miserably in the service. Although the appetizers were passable, and the desserts very good, the entrees were pathetic. The Beef Bourguignonne arrived as a plop of desiccated beef over pasta, the Misty Knoll chicken breast was cooked to the texture of latex, further ruined by a slice of cheese welded to the top. Add to this listless service, flat beer, and a general impression of inattention, and it's clear management needs to crack the whip. Food: 1 Ambiance: 2 Service: 1

Sushi roll was tiny!
I remember the size of sushi rolls I had there a few years ago... it was generous, and nicely made. I went back there a few weeks ago, and ordered a takeout of 6 different kind of sushi rolls, intending to feed 3 people. I paid nearly $40 for them, too. Boy, when I picked them up I was stunned. All of them fit in three tiny takeout containers! They were tiny, mini rolls!!! Needless to say 6 sushi rolls (and 4 of them were special kind with (supposedly) all kinds of ingredients in it) hardly fed three, if not two. I was very disappointed. I mean, I could have bought the same amount of sushi rolls at City Market for the 1/2 the price!!! Food: 1 Ambiance: -1 Service: -1

No flavor and poor texture
We ordered four take out dishes. The Hot and Sour soup was a little peppery, but had no sour flavor, or any flavor at all. The Lemon Chicken had a hard crust and the chicken was dry and cardboard like, with a corn starch and lemon sauce to pour over it. The Salt and Pepper Shrimp was heavily breaded with no flavor. The Sizzling fish was merely an over cooked and breaded fish, again with no flavor. We were very disappointed and will not be going back. It was much more expensive than it should have been as well. Food: 1 Ambiance: -1 Service: 3
