Oh for god's sake. There is no such thing as a "medical intuitive." The author's choice of words was perfectly appropriate.

Re: “Fundraiser for a Utopian 'Ubuntu' Community Causes Stir in Bolton

"She describes herself as a medical intuitive..." is a lot different than saying "She is a medical intuitive." The former seems to undermine the woman while the second states a fact that allows for the reader to judge. Regardless of what this couple is trying to accomplish, whether or not they are a cult, gets lost in this poor choice of words. It comes off like the author has an agenda.

Its an enviable organic flow in our current structure.
Not a cult, religion or segregated community.
It's using the political structure we have and moving toward more self sustainability and freedom. You have to start with one town. it's a grass roots approach to freedom for all.

Re: “Fundraiser for a Utopian 'Ubuntu' Community Causes Stir in Bolton

I'm reminded of the controversy presently swirling around Tulsi Gabbard, the congresswoman from Hawaii (and a Bernie Sanders supporter) who has recently been challenged on her assertion that she has been Hindu all her life. People are saying she grew up in a cult called The Science of Identity Foundation. The Huff Post ran this article, and I have follwed Tulsi for a long time and never knew this.…

My advice is: do your due diligence, folks. You can't judge a book by looking at the cover. They may be great people, but dig deep.

Re: “Bad Cops

on 10/31/2010. I called 911.The dispatcher sent the ambulance to the wrong TOWN! The responding EMS was so late that by the time they arrived it was too late to save her life as she died two days ;later due to an asthma attack. I left out so much ugliness it really can't be believed without the actual radio transmissions that they tampered with. The story is simply too long to get into here but the lack of "good faith" preforming their duties by every government person involved is sickening and should've drawn the attention of every law enforcement agency in vermont. Anyone reading this I hope will visit the blog I made in anger when no media would publish my story. Scott Waterman of WCAX had a story idea ready that he "ran by his superiors" but the next thing I heard was Scott Waterman was saying good-bye in an E-mail to myself and the public after 20 years at WCAX. Was my story somehow involved in his getting done at WCAX? I do not know but it sure does seem to be coincidental timing > I will say litigation is on-going by myself Po Se because the only attorney that would take my case was as corrupt as everyone else involved Muy blog is not professional.. Please vist and comment and share..Let's all stand up for our rights and realize we are all on the same team and hold our public servants accountable when they forget just who it is they are working for. Thank you, Terence L. campbell

Re: “A 'Motel' for the Homeless Fights to Stay in Shelburne

Homelessness can happen to anyone . Including "UglyTown". This Shelburne road is filled with car dealerships, restaurants, and all kinds of motels . Harbor Place is where many Vermonters are staying until they find their own place or their direction in life. I know who they are. Do you know who are the ones staying at other motels around? "Know Thy Enemies".
Harbor Place , thanks to CHT, knows the community, the police officers, the social workers, the medical providers and the resources available in the community. Harbor Place is not a problem. It is a gift. Wake up!!!!!

Re: “After Lake Fatality, Coast Guard Says Boaters Often Don't Follow the Rules

Although my dad, Rod Dion did not take the course he KNEW the rules and followed them without question. He is the one who made the correct maneuver in this situation. In fact, he took an action that most likely saved the lives of the others at a cost of his own.

Re: “Starting Over: First Steps for Refugees in Vermont

Great cartoon and how accurate! There's only one bad person in the strip and it's the cracker who is angrily forcing the former professor from Iraq to clean a bathroom. That's us crackers alright! Thank you for the accurate depiction of how we're complete dicks! Now it's time for my nightly assault rifle polishing. Where did I put you, sweetheart?

Great comic! I would love to 7D run a regular cartoon strip from a New American's point of view.

Re: “Fare Warning

I am an uber driver. The background check and vehicle condition and operating condition must be excellent to remain active as a driver. A clean criminal 50 state background and a 10 year driving record is completed in every driver as well, any major traffic violations or at fault accidents will disqualify an applicant. The fare is calculated online before the ride is requested and tipping is not expected or encouraged by drivers. Customers rate their ride experience after each trip and drivers that get constantly low scores are suspended or permanatly removed and will be immediately fired by UBER for illegal conduct or morally questionable behavior with customers. The real advantage is the fare price, for example a trip from downtown Burlington to the airport averages around 5 dollars. There is no charge for additional passengers. And you will never share a cab with a stranger. Uber provides a 1 million dollar liability policy to protect passengers in the event of a loss. The entire transaction is processed through the smart phone app and the credit card on file. No hand to hand transactions are permitted. It answers virtually all of the problems associated with the Taxi industry.

Re: “Why More Vermont Parents Are Losing Their Children — Permanently

In 2014, Vermont authorities took 788 children from their homes. Of course, DCF says, it’s an opioid epidemic.

But in 1999 Vermont took away 750 children. In 2005 it was 770. And in 2002 Vermont took away 832 children.

What Vermont really has is an epidemic of child removal, caused by an entrenched take-the-child-and-run mentality that long predates the opioid epidemic.

Vermont is an extreme outlier among the states, routinely tearing apart families at one of the highest rates in the nation, vastly higher than states that are national models for keeping children safe – including states with serious drug abuse problems. (Details:

The problem of drug abuse, like the problem of child abuse, is serious and real. But neither problem requires the kind of mass destruction of families that has been standard operating procedure in Vermont. And the problem with all this is not that it hurts parents, though of course it does, the problem is that it hurts children.

For example, University of Florida researchers studied two groups of infants born with cocaine in their systems. One group was placed in foster care, the other with birth mothers able to care for them. After six months, the babies were tested using all the usual measures of infant development: rolling over, sitting up, reaching out. Consistently, the children placed with their birth mothers did better. For the foster children, being taken from their mothers was more toxic than the cocaine.

That doesn’t mean you can just leave children with addicts and go away. It does mean that serious drug treatment for the parent – the kind Skyler Browder talks about – is almost always a better option than foster care for the child.
