Re: “Governor: Crucial Deadline Met on Vermont Health Connect

Looking at the 'dislike's on these comments, someone actually disagrees with the views here. Absurd? Or just a member of the Shimmy admin doing his/her job.

I'd love to see comments from folks who really think this matter is a great accomplishment.

Seriously.

Re: “Governor: Crucial Deadline Met on Vermont Health Connect

I'm glad my mechanic doesn't work like this! "Yes, you're car is fixed! You can come use it in about 120 days. Probably"

I won't tell you how much it cost, because I don't know. But trust me, it was totally worth it.

Re: “Governor: Crucial Deadline Met on Vermont Health Connect

Sounds like now, after 3 days offline, the system has been enhanced. The call center agent can now type the change into an online screen. From there, I bet, it goes to the keypunch department. This should make a huge dent in the backlog, the next success the gov will announce.

Who knows, by 2018 the capability to automatically draft accounts for premiums might also be available. By then, hopefully Shummy will NOT be the gov. He can retire and eat nothing burgers every week.

My health insurance was cheaper and easier to maintain before this all came about. How about you? Remind me, what did this $200 million experiment accomplish?

And so it goes.

Looks like success to me compared to his record to date.

So why are we supposed to take his word for it? After all this "do nothing burger" has done nothing since the start other than take our money

Re: “Governor: Crucial Deadline Met on Vermont Health Connect

I'm having difficulty understanding how needing to continue requesting changes through the workers and not being able to do it directly equals a fixed Vermont Health Connect. One step completed, perhaps. Fixed? No.

Re: “Facing Blowback, Sanders Calls 1972 Sexual Fantasy Piece 'Stupid'

Unlike his devoted worshippers, Ol' Uncle Grumpy himself, Vermont's carpetbagger extraordinaire, Senator Ben & Jerry's, has given up on trying to pretend that his 1972 essay was some deep sociological or literary think-piece. Now he admits it was just a poorly-written attempt at Fifty Shades of Grey.

Yep, I guess all of us brainwashed, illiterate, pathetic, short-attention-span morons who "didn't get it," actually got it after all.

Re: “Uber Driver Charged With Sexual Assault in Burlington

But riding Uber is markedly different than hailing a taxi cab. Driver and passenger are significantly less remote from each other in an Uber ride. Passenger and driver both have an aggregate value of their respective histories before consenting to engage in a wholly personal agreement. They also have the opportunity to discuss the venture before it actually occurs. This is significantly different that the experience created by the government-mandated policies that regulate taxi cabs. This is the independence and liberty of free-will made possible by advances in technology. It is no small wonder that those who have made it their business to control this aspect of our lives are unwilling to give their fiefdom irrespective of the inefficiencies that they bring to it.

Re: “Uber Driver Charged With Sexual Assault in Burlington

Of course it is solely the fault of the driver and he should be prosecuted if during the incident the alleged victim passed out and the suspect forced himself on her. But If she got drunk (which everyone knows lowers inhibitions) and mutually partook in a sexual liaison until the alcohol began to wear off and when, as he reportedly stated, he acceded to her wishes to desist, then all this is is a regrettable occurrence that could have been avoided had so much alcohol not been consumed. That the driver used the Uber platform is irrelevant- even though it appears that city officials in their ever present attempt to justify expanding their own functions are manipulating the event as raison d'être to tighten their stranglehold on ride-share transactions in Burlington by insisting that they conform to regulations designed for taxi service.

Re: “Burlington Mayor Proposes Plan to Make Uber Legal

Well, in all fairness to the taxis, they should not have to charge the fares required by the ordinance either. If Uber is allowed to compete, and well they should, then the taxis should be allowed to compete on a level playing field.

The taxis have had a monopoly for a long time, but that doesn't mean they should be hamstrung in their competition with Uber. Besides, soon enough it will be self-driving cars anyway.

yes, as this non-event makes clear, "pigness and slavishness" remain the dominant characteristics even today, particularly among american "news pundits"

Re: “Facing Blowback, Sanders Calls 1972 Sexual Fantasy Piece 'Stupid'

short-attention-span morons can't even read more than a few paragraphs and they're already passing judgment... what a pathetic country.
he makes it crystal clear (in the 4th paragraph, so "tl:dr" i guess!) that he is referencing "stag," "man," "hero," "tough," obviously the kind of pornographic and sexist magazines that still sell like hotcakes today.
it's painfully obvious that he's talking about stuff that is produced EVERY SINGLE DAY by the Sexual Exploitation Industry that the politicians bend over backwards to protect in the name of "free speech"... but our fascist news press and brainwashed masses barely know how to read or write... education turns them out just literate enough to have their minds scrambled by advertising so they buy pharmaceuticals as shown on TV and parrot politicians' idiotic ranting about jobs jobs jobs, no matter how polluting, carcinogenic, and life-crushing

Re: “Facing Blowback, Sanders Calls 1972 Sexual Fantasy Piece 'Stupid'

Looks like a piece on male/female roles in 1972. What's stupid is that people think this is anything other than an article about the roles each gender used to be pushed into, or that anyone things this piece says anything more. Does it use some colorful imagery to pull you into the piece? Yep. Is it even worth the read? Probably not, unless your name is Bernie Sanders and you want to look back at how you started writing about equality for women 40 years ago, and how much or little gender has changed since you first penned this article.

Re: “Chasing the Images That Make the News

Love this story, thanks Ken. I ran into them at wcax once and always wondered what their backstory was. It's like the Vt version of the film Nightcrawler.

Re: “TV Station Features Vermont Republican in ALEC Exposé

ALEC has 1/4 of all U.S. legislators as members. It cost $10,000 to $25,000 to place your corporate member on the Alec board to write our laws for us...or, technically, for them. It is the basis of fascism and oligarchy.

@ Bauer.vt

What, 7D is just supposed to ignore something that's going on in all the other media and pretend it's not happening, just because you like Bernie? Grow up.

Re: “Facing Blowback, Sanders Calls 1972 Sexual Fantasy Piece 'Stupid'

A humorous piece written 43 years ago? Really? I sure hope no one ever holds me accountable for anything I wrote trying to be funny 43 years ago. Hopefully people will see this "tempest in a teacup" for what exactly what it is, an attempt to distract people from the real issues that Bernie is addressing.
