Re: “Cashing In: Who's Financing Vermont's 2016 Candidates?

@John Dupee you said a mouth full "Non-Resident Money Buys Vermont Elections" just like Non-Americans buys United States Elections..Non-residents of any state and non-residents of the United States should not be allowed to contributed to any elections..Saudi Arabia has contributed to Clintons elections many times..These people are having a say (buying) the politicians, a way to get favors..and it's both democrats and much money is going into the politicians pockets??There needs to be a law against foreign money getting into the US elections and non-residents money from out of staters..if you don't live in that state you don't send contributions..if there is laws against it then enforce it!!! Leahy accepts a lot of foreign money..he's not the only one..but I think Leahy doesn't have Vermont on his mind anymore..Think it's time for him to be put to pasture and get new blood in..

Well dudes, get your buddies to run for office. Do the big demographic mix up. My ancestors didn't hunt with or own AK'S by the way.

Re: “Wasserman Schultz to Resign as Democrats Seek Convention Unity

Anyone without their head buried in the sand already knew this process was rigged. Clinton will reward Debbie Wasserman Schultz for rigging the primary by campaigning for her and giving her some of that sweet Clinton Foundation money.

Another out of stater trying to push out of state values on Vermont. How much of that out of state anti-gun money did you take Sue?

Re: “Authorities Make Mass Drug Arrests in Winooski Neighborhood

Pardon them. Drug war is rasist and counter productive. No one should be costing taxpayers a life sentence of housing costs for drug smuggling. Should be able to buy crack and heroin at the store. Making it illegal is making it dangerous.

Re: “Sharp Decline in Vermont Moose Herd Raises Questions About Hunting

They need to quit trapping possums for no reason. Each possum can kill up to 5000 ticks in a season.
Another major reason in addition to the ticks is reduced edible vegetation from over browsing leaving lower quality greens. The east needs predators to move the deer and moose otherwise everything gets overgrazed.

Re: “Cashing In: Who's Financing Vermont's 2016 Candidates?

It's my feeling that Lisman and Milne are perceived by many voters as not needing donations due to media reporting on their net worth, I'll call it The Trump factor. In this bought-and-sold corrupt politics country, I find personal wealth and lack of insider money a plus.

Re: “Tenants Must Vacate Memorial Auditorium by Year’s End

Over the last two years, Burlington's Generator makerspace has shared the privilege of leasing 6,000sf of basement in Memorial Auditorium. I'd like to thank the City for their partnership "incubating" our modest home for makers. And most important, I'd like to thank the staff of Parks and Recreation for your excellent support in maintaining a safe, comfortable and operable work environment. While we're very much looking forward to our new home on Pine Street, Memorial Auditorium - that grande dame of WPA construction - will be missed.

Three contenders for the Vermont governors seat arguing as to which one is more anti gun. Cute.

Re: “Groups Sue Vermont State Agencies Over Assisted Suicide Law

Note much abuse has been documented in the Oregon assisted suicide system.
See the federal case of Thomas Middleton who was killed with the Oregon law for his assets according to the feds.
There are more details at http://dredf dot org/public-policy/assisted-suicide/some-oregon-assisted-suicide-abuses-and-complications/

Opposition to euthanasia comes from 95% of the entire spectrum of humanity from atheist to eastern philosophies, once they learn how these laws can easily be administered wrongly against the individual 95% say "I'm not for that". It is as simple as that.
Respectfully submitted,
Bradley Williams
MTaas dot org
The promoters have done the public a disservice. Their ordinary bait and switch campaign is demonstrated by their selling "must self-administer" then they do not provide in their legislation for an ordinary witness of the "self-administration". This omission eviscerates the flaunted safeguards putting the entire population at risk of exploitation.

They have a way out by sending the person to another Doctor who will inform the person of the right to die
or they could leave the state and work else where.

Re: “Cashing In: Who's Financing Vermont's 2016 Candidates?

You can read the list of campaign donors and see how much money is from out-of-state, including Sue Minter. Why do you think that is? You can get away with saying you're not accepting corporate money IF the individuals belonging to said corps or organizations are paid to donate.

Re: “Sharp Decline in Vermont Moose Herd Raises Questions About Hunting

With only 2000 of any native species in any state there should be armed guards shooting poachers on sight, not an open season, not even a permit season.

. It is concenring that this moose herd is allowed to dwindle to this point without Vermont just shutting down the hunting season for a few years. Yeah - you take a hit for awhile, but moose tags have to be a pretty major cash cow

the Outdoor Recreation Foundation notes that
• Supports 35,000 jobs across Vermont
• Generates $187 million in annual state tax revenue
• Produces $2.5 billion annually in retail sales and services across Vermont
– accounting for 12% of gross state product

THE RESIDENTS OF VERMONT should APPRECIATE THE IMPACT VIEWING MOOSE HAS ON THE ECONOMY AND URGE, PETITION AND CONTACT THEIR REPRESENTATIVES TO HAVE THE FWD SUSPEND THE MOOSE LOTTERY. WHY? ECONOMICALLY........ WILDLIFE VIEWING IS IN THE NUMBER OF 282,000 PEOPLE OR 54% OF THE POPULATION VS HUNTING AT 72,742 OR 14% OF THE POPULATION. Therefore, of the $2.5 billion dollars in sales, and $187 dollars of tax revenue; 54% of people who are viewing wildlife ( to include moose ) are contributing to the overall economy of Vermont. The Fish and Wildlife page actually dedicates a section to wildlife viewing with a specific notice about observing moose in June 2016.
Also, how is this moose permit season keeping with the FWD's 2010-2020 management strategy points?Management Strategies:
Maintain a statewide fall post-hunt population of
between 3,000 and 5,000 moose.

The moose lottery is now open. SHAME ON THE VT FWD for considering dollars over the sustainable health of the moose in this state! What will moose hunters hunt when the moose are all gone?

Re: “Tenants Must Vacate Memorial Auditorium by Year’s End

Historic or not. The space may be usable as an art studio, but even if you repaired the building it still isn't a place where concerts or the like can be held. It requires better seating, better sound, better bathrooms, better bar area for concerts or events, better stairway access, the list goes on. Tear it down and build something modern in its place.

Re: “Mayor, New Moran Terminate Agreement to Redevelop Coal Plant

You can buy flowers at City Market. Dion's locksmith on North Street is the best in town.

Re: “Mayor, New Moran Terminate Agreement to Redevelop Coal Plant

Is this part of a consistent pattern? More to tax instead of a better place to live?
Develop the downtown for tourists.
Drive folks to live in the burbs.
Kill livability downtown.

1. Develop condo's and hotels on the beautiful & unique Moran. (Plan from day 1)
2. Massive overdevelopment on Church st. - Height is height -
3. Develop tourist hotel on Memorial auditorium.
4. Kill off BT - can't tax what can't be seen or comprehended.

When we develop at all costs; you no longer can buy flowers downtown: no longer have a hardware store downtown: no longer have a butcher downtown: no longer can get a key cut downtown: no longer have a dry cleaners downtown. etc etc.,

We wanted a more livable city. Instead we getting a bigger tax base at the cost of a more livable city.
Can't we have both?

Re: “Tenants Must Vacate Memorial Auditorium by Year’s End

Memorial Auditorium is a historic landmark. We should be maintaining such buildings and pieces of our community, not demolishing them so that the mayor and big businesses can benefit. UVM is going to swallow up the city, and much of the local character will vanish. This development mindset is ruining Burlington. Instead, you could still involve UVM by teaming up with the Historic Preservation program to create projects to restore our infrastructure and keep the Burlington culture intact.
