Re: “Watchdog Whistle: This Vermont News Website Tilts to the Right

Walters takes down Vermont Watchdog for their obvious bias and then Annette Smith comes into the comment section to say that actually Watchdog does a great job reporting on renewable energy issues?!?!!?? No, they do not. Vermont may be a bubble, but it is connected to a larger planet. You NIMBY folks have either forgotten that or you don't care about leaving the planet habitable for future generations. Either way, it is sad to see you defend Koch brother funded propaganda.

Re: “Walters: A Series of Unprogressive Events

There must be a person in the Statehouse whose job it is to buy the chairs, the ink, supply the computers and keep up with buying the everyday essentials that Legislators need to do their job. That person should go ahead and order some spines for all the Democrats who did not support H. 170.

I hope Reps. Sibilia and Krowinski (who represents UVM students?!?!?!) and all the other spineless Dems are prepared to explain to a whole litany of young Vermonters, who will inevitably get arrested between now and whenever it is Vermont decides to legalize, just how their fine/ arrest was worth this bill getting its "proper vetting." Seems like us Vermonters, who overwhelmingly support marijuana legalization, need to do some "proper vetting" of who we choose to represent us in the Statehouse when we vote in 2018.

Re: “Watchdog Whistle: This Vermont News Website Tilts to the Right

The idea that Watchdog is a right wing shill - but not for renewable energy issues is patently ludicrous. I think the anti-renewable folks in Vermont need to remove the wool from their eyes and realize they're playing the part of useful idiot for the fossil-fuel industry as they try to squeeze the last bit of profit out of their dying industry.

You can poke a hole in the argument of all the anti-renewable, live-off-the-grid folks when you ask them how they propose to provide electricity to schools, hospitals, people who can't afford renewables/renters, and those whose properties aren't a good cite for renewable energy generation. *crickets*

Re: “Transient Held After Man Fatally Stabbed on Church Street

Church Street has become inundated with derelicts. I can't go there during the day without seeing someone screaming curse words to themselves or riled up in some other form. I hate to say it but I'm honestly not surprised this happened at all.

Love the way she looks! Sassy! Appreciate black women who sport beautifully coiffed afros and shorter hair styles. Trying to mimic straight hair styles is painful to see. Just sayin'. . .

Danley Swildon: "I'm all for hearing both sides of an argument but do we really need guy who thinks that black people's brains are oxygen deprived because of the shape of their noses to be part of the discourse?"?

Your contribution of that fantasy element to the discussion was certainly not needed.

Re: “Watchdog Whistle: This Vermont News Website Tilts to the Right

Actually, I thought it was very well done. And I don't often find reason to compliment Mr. Walters. Very insightful and intuitive to my impressions of Vermont Watchdog. Any organization which claims its mantle to be "fraud, waste & abuse" while simultaneously admitting its partisan reportage and purpose as openly as Watchdog does, would give most readers reason to be skeptical of anything it publishes.

Vermont Warchdog, this must be John Walter's April Fools' Day story. It certainly made me laugh as I was reading and considering the source.

Re: “Vermont Legalization in Limbo After House Democrats Pull Pot Bill

Goes to show how old fashioned Vermont is on marijuana, might as well live in the horse and buggy days.. The legislature needs to open it's eyes and worry about the real problems in Vermont

Re: “Vermont Legalization in Limbo After House Democrats Pull Pot Bill

To "Hey Folks",

Both reps you mentioned are Democrats, so is the majority of the House. So what's with the comment about the pro-prohibition Republicans ? There are not the problem. There is so much uneducated bigotry in these comments.

Re: “Watchdog Whistle: This Vermont News Website Tilts to the Right

What is interesting about Vermont Watchdog is they have accurately reported on issues about renewable energy that the so-called mainstream media in Vermont is not covering at all, or very little. There is bias in much of Vermont media, and the failure to report on issues of concern to Vermonters is one way of showing bias. Watchdog's reporters are generally accurate, and if not, they quickly correct things. I'll offer a couple of examples of important news that only Watchdog has covered, and which the author of this column would never touch because of his well-known bias:

Re: “Vermont Legalization in Limbo After House Democrats Pull Pot Bill

vermont shelving/essentially killing this tiny step towards full legalization is shameful. the legislators do not represent their constituency. they are abusing their power.
bob orleck-you know not what you speak of, facts are real and exist. look them up. sorry you are stuck in the past.
and for a state w/ such an aggressive and debilitating opioid problem, this makes the house look that much more ridiculous.

Re: “Anchor Eva McKend Breaks New Ground on WCAX

There are plenty of white, female, anchors and reporters in this market who could take a page from her book. Some of them dress like they're going on a picnic, or to a club, rather than working in any professional capacity.
The traditional news anchor "uniform" made her seem like a nerdy college student. Her look, stories and delivery have come a long way, and she now portrays a poised, smart, and talented woman. Bravo!

Re: “Vermont Legalization in Limbo After House Democrats Pull Pot Bill

It's time for the pro-prohibition Reps to lose their jobs. These people are content playing paddy cake while real people have their lives ruined and it's immoral.

Rep. Cynthia Browing needs to go. cbrowning@leg.state.vt.us
Rep. Mitzi Johnson needs to go. mjohnson@leg.state.vt.us

Vermonters are sick and tired of the continuation of these racist policies that inordinately target minorities.

Re: “Watchdog Whistle: This Vermont News Website Tilts to the Right

This is pretty amusing coming from someone who put out the left-wing version of Watchdog for years. I wonder if Walters felt duplicitous, hypocritical and sanctimonious while writing this, or if he's just too diluted and oblivious to notice the irony here.

Re: “Vermont Legalization in Limbo After House Democrats Pull Pot Bill

For the love of all that is holy, how is this a difficult issue? Legalizing marijuana is the right thing to do and this is patently obvious as it becomes legalized in more places throughout the country and world. Marijuana has been falsely maligned for decades, republican's own reports attempting to demonize it have shown that it is significantly more harmless than most legal drugs including alcohol and tobacco. These are reports from the 1950s and 1960s that were buried in order to avoid the truth: Marijuana is one of the most beneficial drugs with the fewest negative impacts. Significantly less dangerous than tobacco or alcohol.

Vermont legislature, Governor Scott, please join the long list of hardworking civil servants who have worked so hard to keep Vermont at the forefront of being on the right side of history. Please do not allow Vermont to be turned into the Florida or Texas of idiotic, regressive and hateful policies. Legalize weed or for heaven's sake, please get out of the way of progress!

Re: “Scott Signs Bill Limiting Trump’s Immigration Executive Orders

Good for Governor Scott's on the day the A.G of the United states announced that the feds would be withholding federal funds from " sanctuary states and cities" , Scott puts Vermont a state with limited resources that is already stretched thin as it is on the feds radar by signing this stupid bill. With moves like that Scott should not last long in the states highest office. Maybe next election we can vote a real Republican into office. Good luck paying for all the illegals that will be sacking the states resources dry.
