Trapp's New Chef?
Don't know if it is just me, but I have been coming here for 24 years and the dining room experience this year was different. The ambiance and service are impeccable and well worth the high prices (and view), but the food was not as comforting as in past years. Scallops came with a cloying sticky sauce that overwhelmed them, sauerkraut was not in evidence (nor was red cabbage -- a perennial favorite). The wine list remains superb and the desserts are hard to meddle with (black forest, linzertorte, etc.) but the chicken was uninspired with a mole kind of sauce and the other cuts at my table weren't what I usually enjoyed and expected. It is different -- at least they had traditional spaetzl. I think I will stick with their bakery and cafe for the bratwurst and sauerkraut and beer I can count on. Their entrees at the dining room need work and a back-to-basics return to previous successful offerings. Maybe because it's April?

No planes, no peace. No peace, no planes. Pick a side, but stop the noise about it. The airport generates far more disturbance with ground operations and late night arrivals. Time to stop tweaking the bogey-man AF. If SB didn't let them take down the homes then the sound wouldn't be going out so far, and it seems the map of the latest noise contours doesn't include Winooski at all in the main noise zones. Drop it Winooski and that one SB resident
...or they can vote for the candidate that has the support of the most recent solid leaders of the state (Dean, Kunin) and hire someone who has run a state-sized budget w/o deficit spending...Minter
Today?! Lisman's campaign called to remind me it's tomorrow, and that our regular polling station was closed for repairs so I had to go to Burlington or Montpelier
Billionaires for Dunne!
Not good anymore. I have enjoyed Marcos previously but both service and food were lacking tonight. There was an over-served patron trying to pick a fight with an off-duty employee who was busy drinking his own beer and distracting the pizza maker. So a calzone arrived (20 mins late) because the dazed looking manager couldn't figure out the four pies and four patrons in the place on an unbusy Thursday night(it had been sitting there all along). It was soggy, underdone and missing enough mozzarella to keep the ample ricotta from bursting through the raw dough. To add insult to injury, the bottom of the calzone was scaled with the black dots of an uncleared oven. The salad was ok and they accommodated a request for anchovies but don't order calzones or expect them to check on your order. Pretty sad...next time: Uncle Tonys or Ramuntos.
