Cozy, unpretentious and delicious!
Wow. Agree with all previous reviews - this place is just awesome! We made the long trek to Vergennes on Saturday for a celebratory dinner and were wowed by each and every dish. My husband got the soup du jour (Mushroom Bisque) and we were both wowed by how flavorful it was. But the greatness didn't stop there - he got the stuffed chicken and I got the porkchop with the fig / balsamic reduction. Even the starches served "family style" were a nice touch to a special dinner. The fries weren't anything to write home about but the dipping sauces were yummy and it was a fun accompaniment. The garlic mashed potatoes were creamy and not overwhelming with garlic. For desserts, I had the homemade cheesecake with raspberry sauce (YUM) and he had the ice cream with raspberry sauce and almonds. I love when places give you a reasonable amount of dessert and don't overwhelm you with sweetness. This was just that.
The atmosphere was cozy and charming but I do recommend reserving a seat away from the door, if you can - they try to block the wind from the door with heavy drapery but it still sneaks in.
We both left happy, full and singing it's praises. Well worth the hour long drive from Underhill!

Off to a good start!
We live about 15 minutes from the old Yanna's Cupboard restaurant location and - while the location is notorious for turning over restaurants at least once a year - we make a point to try it each time and be supportive. The three of us - myself, husband, and mother-in-law - ate there last Friday at about 7 pm. I was immediately impressed with the renovation. The place looks much more like a classy restaurant. Good work! The food was surprisingly good - buttermilk chicken was YUMMY but my hubby wasn't wild about the chive mashed potato side (wasn't sure they went together well). I had the blackened chicken over pasta with a basil cream sauce. The (cherry?) tomatoes in that dish were amazing! The chef graciously made a special dish for my lactose-intolerant mother-in-law (which she also loved). Very nice menu. We were pleased with the selection. My one real complaint (there were a few little things but those are easily ironed out with time) is the waitress seemed intent on dropping things on the table itself, which made our dining experience feel like more of a diner. We'll be back in a couple months to try it out again! Good Luck!
