Re: “Suit Challenges What Vermont’s AG Can Keep Confidential

As one who frequently makes public records request, as has litigated a few, I agree with Hardin that those of us on the other end of the political spectrum from his free market organization should be paying close attention.
One problem I have recently come across is that the Legislature considers Legislative Counsel to be their legal firm and that communication between legislators and the counsel are exempt. This is one of those interpretations where the exemption swallows the rule. It assumes that advise as to the wording or effect of potential legislation is on the same footing as advice to a client whose property, privacy, or liberty interests are the subject of the legal advice.
We should all pay close attention to the EELI case. It certainly will have a wide effect on the scope of the exemptions to Vermont's Public Records Act.

Re: “Burlington Electric Discovers Russia-Linked Malware on Laptop

Let's see the evidence that: 1. The malware was targeted at Burlington Electric, rather than one of those viri we pick up whenever we do something stupid on the Internet; 2. That it came from the Russian gov't, as opposed to criminal elements, organized or not, in Russia or elsewhere.
Grizzly Steppes is a term made up by the U.S. Government. It may be defining a real Russian plot, or some 30 year old living in his parents' basement, or anywhere in between. Anyone who claims to know othewise, please show us your evidence.

Re: “Walters: GOP Leader ‘Concerned’ About Scott’s Shumlin Holdovers

Here's hoping he can find one to head the DOC who really believes in "Corrections" and comes from a jurisdiction with a record of rehabilitation and getting prisoners ready to hold a job and be productive citizens in other ways.

Re: “Despite Hefty New Fines, Truck Drivers Still Try the Notch

"Its just really designed for a passenger car, Elovirta said of the mountain roadway."
I'm sure it was originally designed for a horse; a small horse.

Re: “Race Issues Flare During Lieutenant Gubernatorial Debate

I missed the debate. But it appears Brock was at least partially successful in diverting attention from the issues that matter to the minutiae of political correctness.
The lieutenant governor has a significant role in the organization of the Senate and lately is considered by the Governor to be a member of the cabinet, relied on for policy advice. He or she is not just standing around waiting for the incumbent governor to die.

Re: “GOP Official Says Bernie Sanders, Chris Pearson Violated Law

A link to the actual complaint and one to the relevant statute would be far more informative than speculation of motive or efficacy.

Re: “D.C. Lobbyists to Host Fundraiser for Phil Scott

"According to his chief of staff, Rachel Feldman, Scott's state office will pay for his hotel stay on Tuesday and Wednesday. His campaign will foot the bill for travel and his Monday night accommodations, following the fundraiser."

Okay Republicrats, now you know one reason why your taxes are so damned high; politicians from both wings of the Capitalist Party using our tax money to get re-elected.

And, yes, if Bernie were doing it I would SHOUT JUST AS LOUD.
