Re: “Namuna Asian Kitchen Opens in Winooski

Used to LOVE Dharshan Namaste Asian Deli was so said when they switched owners. Never really cared for Spice Traders' Kitchen. It just wasn't nearly as good ss Namaste. Hopefully this new place will be just as good as Namaste.

Re: “Pending Lawsuit Stalls Winooski Hotel Project

I applaud the Winooski Downtown Redevelopment Association for rejecting this hotel. The lot they are proposing to build on is .18 acres, which is barley suitable for a single family home. This is a poorly thought out project. I am surprised that the city of Winooski is so vested in it. The downtown development is such a hodge podge as it is with limited parking. Not to mention the incoming 1,500 seat venue being built on the old Key bank property. That also will not have space for parking either. Regardless of what one might think or want ,Vermont is still a very car centric state as public transportation is limited.

Re: “Burlington Harbor Marina Gets Council Approval

4 million gain to the city over a 40 year lease or about $100,00/year? Someone is making some money off this and it is not the city who is selling out public land for private use.

Re: “Winooski Development Projects Face Parking Squeeze

You can encourage public and alternative transport all you want, but we are a state built on cars. We mostly do not have great weather and many live outside of the city centers because of cost. I have chosen not to go to events in Winooski due to parking issues (restaurants, farmers market ect.) and I am sure I am not alone.
Also how can you put a 100 room hotel and a 100 seat restaurant on a .18 acre plot of land and think that is OK? My lot is almost double that size and I have a 1000 sqft home and a single car garage on it with not a lot left over. I can get behind The Strand, but this hotel is a joke.

Re: “After Resigning, Peter Owens Returns to Burlington City Hall — Temporarily

Nice pay upgrade he was paid $44.47/hour under salary and now he is getting $80/hour. What a great use of city funds.

Re: “Update: Still Spooked, Murphy the Dog Eludes Capture

Sio: I would think that they do not tranquilizer him because they do not work immediately. It can take 30 to 60 minutes for them to take effect. At that point he most likely would not be in the area to be found and could possibly get injured.

Re: “Update: Is Burlington Ready to Grow ... Up?

The average salary for a South Burlington teachers is about $74k, which is the highest teachers pay in the state. The average salary for all Vermonters is $40,203, according to census data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Nevertheless, S.B. teacher start pay is in the high 40's
