Re: “Up in Arms: Bill Would Let Cops Take Guns in Domestic Violence Cases

"But, she argued, the bill is the best way to address the threat hanging over domestic violence victims: "Unfortunately, firearms are used in these situations."

So you want to deem a person dangerous enough to warrant taking away their firearms, but not dangerous enough to take them into custody and keep them there? After which they can then use a baseball bat, their fists, boots, a kitchen knife, car/truck, chainsaw etc etc etc... I guess limited intellect equals limited solutions.

If Rhonda Gray had been killed with anything other than a gun, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. The focus would be on the killer and the root of the problem instead of on 1 object out of a possible 1000 that could have been used. Anyone that honestly believes that taking a gun out of the hands of a deranged person, turns them into a perfectly normal person, shouldn't be allowed to hold public office.

Re: “Checkpoint Vermont: The Feds' Broad Reach Inside Our Borders

The collusion of our state law & local law enforcement with those working for the federal government is a slippery slope indeed, that doesn't get talked about nearly enough. Especially boarder enforcement working continuously so far away from the boarder & their continuous & wanton disregard of the 4th amendment. Thanks for shining a light on this issue.

The federal government knows that our individual rights are best taken away by a slow & constant erosion.

Re: “UVM Proposes $80 Million Athletic Facility on Campus

When was the last time the University spent $80 M-I-L-L-I-O-N Dollars on the Science department? Or the Technology Dept? Or the Math Dept?

Eighty Million Dollars on what looks like a few aircraft hangers, to teach kids how to play with a ball...

One of the biggest downfalls of education in this country is that we take sports way, WAY too seriously.

Re: “Common 'Grounds': Screening for Cancer in Coffee Regions

Sounds like nobody has ever looked into why so many women there are getting cervical cancer in the first place. Treat the cause, not the symptoms. Look at the pesticides, herbicides & chemical fertilizers used on the coffee plants in the first place & stop poking at minuscule parts of peoples bodies while ignoring the rampant poisoning.

Re: “A Week After Election, Scott to Travel to Florida for RGA Retreat

This is what you get when you elect "party politicians".

@ Elizabeth from Lincoln - "Any Governor-elect would go to their respective association meeting, especially when newly elected."
While you're not wrong, maybe the people need to form their own association or hire our own lobbyist to insure they have more of the Governor's attention. But wait... isn't that who our "representatives" are supposed to be?

Re: “Burlington Labs to Pay $6.75 Million in Medicaid Settlement

"Reached a SETTLEMENT"... Once again, egregious lawbreaking & flat out robbery, but "no criminal charges filed". NOBODY goes to jail. And the fines, as always, aren't even half of what they made ripping off the taxpayers.

Everyone involved should be imprisoned, their homes and assets seized and sold to repay the taxpayers.

Re: “Photos: Burlington's Trees Through the Ages

Must we have advertising forced down our throats just to look at some pictures?
