Methinks thouest's consumption calculations were made while a bit under the influence! If 3.7 gallons is multiplied by 128 ounces (number of ounces in a gallon), the total ounces consumed in a year would have been 473. That is just short of 1.3 oz per day. Even at 100 percent alcohol, that is AT MOST equal to about 3 ounces of liquor by today's concentration and shot size (43 percent/86 proof range, with a "shot" being somewhere between 1 and 1.5 ounces).
