Re: “Drink Up: A Smoky Cocktail at Burlington's Drink

I have never understood why people hate on this place so much. I think its criticism is undeserved. Drink is a good place. Can it be hard to get a bartender when it's swamped? Yes same as any other bar in town. The drinks specials are good and its one of the few places I can go with friends and have a conversation that isn't drowned out by live music. Is it my favorite bar no, but I would pick this place over a ton of others on Church st.

Re: “Before Burlington's Proposed Mall Makeover, They Called It 'Urban Renewal'

I can understand peoples resistance to the development plans, trying to preserve what they see as Burlington's image.
As a long time resident I am in favor of many of the development projects proposed for Burlington/ South Burlington.
This area has had a housing crisis for 30 years, and we need to start taking steps toward solving it. It saddens me to see how poor the condition of much of the area's traditional "affordable housing" is. We need new development to get people into decent affordable housing and shake up the culture of slum lords that rule the residential properties.
Our area is growing and we should be proud of that, and in order to grow we must build. I am confident that new construction will help us grow in a positive direction.
