It's encouraging yet somewhat ironic to read that the town of Milton is planning to "beautify" the shopping area around Hannaford by planting trees, among other things. Just a few years ago, all the healthy, beautiful large pine trees around the post office that provided much-needed shade in the summer, were cut down. According to information I received from post office staff, they were cut down because the company that owns Hannaford and the property around it, claimed the trees "caused damage to the paved areas." I've never heard anything more ridiculous in my life, but there it is. Maybe they're planning on fake trees that cause no mess????
