Re: “'Mob' Attacks Middlebury Prof and Controversial Speaker Charles Murray

The students pay to be there but the College is using their money to book a racist to speak authoritatively and from a position of power in the interest of "free speech"? That's just plain garbage. You don't need to pay someone like Dr. Murray to appear at a college in order to learn about his views. From the SPLC "Charles Murray, a fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, has become one of the most influential social scientists in America, using racist pseudoscience and misleading statistics to argue that social inequality is caused by the genetic inferiority of the black and Latino communities, women and the poor." There was nothing "academic" about this booking. There was nothing new to be learned. I'm glad the students took a stand and denied this "academic" the platform to spew hateful rhetoric in our community.

Re: “Vermont Senate Approves Bill to Limit ‘Duty to Warn’

"Vermont Senate swiftly passed a bill Friday ..." What bill? Must be too hard to link to the legislature I suppose.

Re: “Scott, No Fan of Trump, Heads to White House for NGA Meeting

"Scott, No Fan of Trump" ... Fan? Cheerleader? Is this sports or politics? "...voted for a bill that would insulate Vermont from enforcing controversial immigration edicts" ... Does the Senate bill actually do that? The bill seems to merely give the Governor the option to refuse deputization of state law enforcement. Conveniently, the actual bill number is left out of this and other articles. The peons can't handle the actual text I suppose. "This is about what I see as federal overreach in terms of our Constitution," ... a very tired state's rights argument. Get your pom-poms out!

Re: “Walters: Scott’s Customer-First Environmental Stewardship

It doesn't happen overnight but this is how it starts. One developer gets something, then another developer points and says "Hey, they got it. Why not me?" And, off we go, down the hole. Walmarts abutting wild spaces, golf courses crowding out important habitat, gas stations in the middle of nowhere. Its the wild places that make our experience unique as a destination. Once it's gone it's gone forever. And for what? So a very few can get very rich at the expense of the land and the culture.
