It would be easy to attribute this year’s Daysies victory of Ink. Ink. to the closing of Burlington’s Scribbles, a longtime favorite in the category. But Ink.Ink, which occupies the first floor of a gracious house in Shelburne’s town center, is on a page of its own. Browse the four pastel-painted rooms, and you’ll soon be convinced letter writing isn’t a dead art. Stationery sets range from lady-of-the-manor genteel — Ink. Ink. carries designs by Kate Spade, Martha Stewart and Lilly Pulitzer — to basic bulk paper in an array of colors. The store will give it your personal stamp on site. The gorgeous leaves may look like luxuries, but Crane & Co. notecards in color combos such as lime and fuchsia or watermelon and ecru go for just $13 a box. The card selection is compact but choice — check out the saucy, hand-pressed designs from Blue Barnhouse. And line up some old-style correspondents, stat.
