Burlington Winter Farmers' Market

Bite Club TV

On Saturday, November 22, Burlington, Vermont hosted its first ever winter farmer's market, in Memorial Auditorium on Main Street.

Seven Days video correspondent Jim Wilkinson-Ray filmed and edited this video about the event.

Jim follows Food Editor Suzanne Podhaizer and Assistant Online Editor and Food Writer Alice Levitt as they tour the farm stands, meet the farmers, eat chocolate ginger cake and talk with Governor Jim Douglas.

Here's a list of local producers featured in this video:

Arethusa Collective Farm

Naga Bakehouse

Tamale Girl

Tart to Finish

The next Burlington Winter Farmers' Market takes place on December 20, 2008.

foodie poll

How do you define "local" food?

  • It must be grown at a farm in my town.
  • I'd like it to come from within an hour's drive.
  • If it's grown in-state, that's fine.
  • If it's from New England, that counts!
  • I'll go with the USDA definition: if it's produced within 400 miles of my house, it's local.
