Re: “Dr. Dog, Yellerkin

Scott McMicken of Dr. Dog on his favorite places to play. He mentioned Stubbs and "Higher Game"... "Oh, there’s this place, The Higher Game in Burlington, Vermont, oddly enough. It’s just this really cool venue. It’s pretty simple. They have two rooms. One room can hold maybe 500 people and then the other room can hold maybe about 1,000 or so. It’s kinda in a parking lot next to a Burger King. It’s nothing really that special architecturally or anything but maybe it’s more to do with the people that work there and the general kind of way in which music is received in Burlington – really unpretentious and really open-minded and it always feels great to play there, mostly I think on account of the people that live there. And among the people that live there, the ones that work at the club are super nice."

Re: “Walters: Scott, Legislature Remain at Odds

Irresponsible Trump-style fiscal thought. It's all a huge punt to when another Governor has to deal with the problem. And to think he's going to negotiate with teachers' unions on both health care and class ratios? Nope.

Re: “Walters: Scott Speaks Softly, Carries Big Stick on Taxes

Scott is a simpleton whose tactics appeal to simpletons. It's the Trump effect of non-negotiation and bullying right here in Vermont. Never mind that his position is half-baked and would kill public schools... which we need to recruit and retain all these out-of-staters Scott says we need to keep our economy from shrinking to nothing.

Re: “How Solid Is the Case Against the Accused School-Shooting Plotter?

I'm among the world's most vocal and intransigent gun control advocates out there, but I see no "attempt" here. Buying a 12-gauge shotgun in Vermont can hardly be called "gearing up" for a mass shooting. This is the behavior of a delusional kid who needs help, not a criminal act.

Re: “Burlington Residents Will Vote on F-35 Question As Written

'The fighter jets are the guard's singular focus, Harder said: "Let me be crystal clear: There is no alternative mission for the Vermont Air National Guard."'

This is a lie. The mission for the VANG would remain exactly the same as before if the F-35 had not been designated for BTV. The entire threat of jobs, economy, etc. was a lie (helpfully perpetrated by Bernie Sanders!). The F-16 would have stayed. No jobs lost. And the f-35 basing means zero additional jobs. Just different.

Re: “#HerToo: Middlebury Student in Trouble Over List of Accused Sexual Transgressors

Correction: Middlebury is the poster child or political correctness gone amok more so than Yale and BERKELEY (not Stanford, sorry.)

Re: “#HerToo: Middlebury Student in Trouble Over List of Accused Sexual Transgressors

Witch hunts are not the answer. When have we gone too far in the name of political correctness?"What began as overdue acknowledgment of a vast sexual harassment problem has devolved into unfair and unsupported charges against men." She's no less sheltered or entitled than the white, rich students she appears to criticize. "Coming to this" is the worst kind of muckraking and puts this "strong woman" on the same level as Fox news & Breitbart.

It's sheer irony that this Middlebury student not only "outed" 36 *harassers, assaulters, and rapists* -- with hearsay, but absolutely no proof -- is the same person who helped assault free speech and molest liberal intellectual debate on campus in the last Middlebury student crisis. Political correctness gone amok -- and Middlebury College is the poster child, even more so than Yale and Stanford.

She was a central figure in repressing free speech on campus because she was offended by it. She'd rather shut down free speech than allow discourse -- on a college campus no less! But she then insists her slander (or libel) should be protected by free speech. Double-standard much?

Re: “The Thin Red, White and Blue Line: Vermonter Wins Prize Of Arguable Merit

We knew Chioffi was a despicable human being before the in-depth story. But, wow. This is deeply-ingrained ignorance born of irrational (patriotic) fear, not just racism. It's the 38 whose distorted, bigoted collective mind will not be changed.
