Re: “As BHS Students Watch, Vermont Senate Passes Immigration Bill

I cannot believe that Dustin Degree and Carolyn Branagan voted for this bill. We have so few jobs for Vermonters, some much difficulty running our schools to comply with Fed Ed, a new deal with the Fed to experiment with Healthcare and to top it off, our Governor announces that HALF our State Budget is comprised of Fed $. So the Fed is pulling our strings as our President tries to stop the flow of ILLEGAL Aliens, not immigrants. Why in the world would you pass a law that ties the hands of our small police forces who are now denied the right to enforce Federal Law. You want to be Sanctuary Cities here in Vermont. Watch our President take those Fed $ away. I am ashamed to live in a State that want's to tax legal citizens of VT to support a population of people who have already broken the law.

Re: “Obituary: Donald Rowe, 1940-2017

I was fortunate to be cast in several of the Champlain College plays he directed as well as the Vt Mozart Festival production of The Threepenny Opera. It is with much sadness that the news of his passing has come to us today. I think of him often. He inspired me to direct plays as well as to improve my performance skills! Thank you Don. Pat Willey

Re: “Vermont Congressional Delegation Joins Gun Sit-In on House Floor

I'm guessing if there's a sit-in somewhere you will find Bernie and the rest of the hipsters reliving their "glory days". What a great way to end a Session.

Re: “House Panel Votes to Let Some Bypass Vermont Health Connect

One of the catches is, even if you are subsidized almost totally, the cheapest level of coverage requires a $1000 deductible before benefits kick in. If the insured can't pay any out of pocket, where does that leave them? If they don't get a subsidy, a couple with one person working full time would have to pay up to $700 a month or more for the cheapest plan. Worst of all, the cheapest plan has very limited benefits and does not cover dental work or eye care, as in new glasses or contact lenses. There is a big disconnect somewhere in Health Connect.

Re: “Mandatory Composting: Coming Soon to a Trash Can Near You

We have been composting for years and using it in our gardening. Last fall we sold our house and weren't able to take the compost with us. We tried to give it away but only a couple of people were interested. We used Facebook and Front Porch Forum. Hopefully part of this effort will include a way for composters large and small to share compost they are unable to use themselves.
