Happy Blogiversary to me

Posted By on Thu, Aug 25, 2005 at 10:55 AM

So I checked the archives on my original blog site and realized that I started blogging a year ago today. I started the blog as an experiment to see what I could do with this new medium. First, I called it "Notes from the Margins." Then it was "Amaryllis." In February, I changed its name to "802 Online," and in May it moved from Blogger to Typepad and became a Seven Days-sponsored venture.

Over the past year, I've really enjoyed getting to know other bloggers, both local and otherwise. I look forward to continuing to develop a vibrant and relevant local blogosphere that showcases diverse new perspectives unavailable in the traditional media.

Thanks, everybody, for reading and commenting.

Also, I'd like to note that 5 years ago today, my partner Ann-Elise and I got civil unioned. That was one of the best things that's ever happened to me. Happy Anniversary, AJ!

Social Sentinel, a Burlington-based company that identifies threatening content on social media, was among the winners of the 2018 Tech Jam awards, presented last Friday at the 12th Vermont Tech Jam. The prizes, given annually by the Vermont Technology Alliance, BTV Ignite and Seven Days, recognize leaders in the state's tech ecosystem. The awards ceremony was the culmination of a busy day at the free career and tech expo organized by Seven Days and presented by Vermont Works. Representatives from more than 50 companies and colleges talked with hundreds of attendees who walked the expo floor. Jeff Couture, executive director of the Vermont Technology Alliance, said he talked with job seekers from across Vermont and outside the state at the event, "including someone, suitcase in hand, who visited from North Carolina."
