Happy 1st anniversary, 802

Posted By on Mon, May 1, 2006 at 2:09 PM

How time flies.

Last week was my first blogiversary — as an official, Seven Days blog, anyway — and I was so busy reporting my stories for this week that I missed it. Then I celebrated by spending the weekend offline, visiting with friends, talking with my partner and playing with my adorable and constantly changing son.

So here we are. What a year it's been. I started off with a handful of Vermont blogs on my blogroll, and just 500 or so visits in the first month. Now I'm listing more than 160 Vermont blogs (more on the way, I promise). Last month, 802 drew about 3500 visitors. That's down from a high of 5500 in March, but, hey, I went on vacation for a week. And it's not every month that I unmask a plagiarist.

Thanks for sticking with me, and for sending me all those tips. I intend to keep up my end of this conversation, even if I do take occasional breaks for babysitting and picnics at Colchester Pond.

Social Sentinel, a Burlington-based company that identifies threatening content on social media, was among the winners of the 2018 Tech Jam awards, presented last Friday at the 12th Vermont Tech Jam. The prizes, given annually by the Vermont Technology Alliance, BTV Ignite and Seven Days, recognize leaders in the state's tech ecosystem. The awards ceremony was the culmination of a busy day at the free career and tech expo organized by Seven Days and presented by Vermont Works. Representatives from more than 50 companies and colleges talked with hundreds of attendees who walked the expo floor. Jeff Couture, executive director of the Vermont Technology Alliance, said he talked with job seekers from across Vermont and outside the state at the event, "including someone, suitcase in hand, who visited from North Carolina."
