Monday morning

Posted By on Mon, Sep 11, 2006 at 10:02 AM

I was in Eastpointe, Michigan this weekend, saying goodbye to the house where I grew up. My parents are moving to Thomasville, North Carolina, to be with the rest of my family. It's not earthshattering news, but it was important to me, so I thought I'd share it.

I had a bunch of other stuff I thought I'd write this morning, but all of it seems a little silly at the moment, while we're all remembering the events of five years ago.

On my drive to work this morning, I was reminded of the NY Times Portraits of Grief series. Garrison Keillor talked about it on the Writer's Almanac. Hearing him remember them reminded me of those short pieces about the people who died on 9/11. I read them every time I picked up the paper. That was some great journalism, in my opinion, and so I'm passing on that link this morning, and letting them speak for themselves.
