Tuesday Post-Deadline Linkdump

Posted By on Tue, Dec 19, 2006 at 1:23 PM

Hey, I'm done! I finished all my stories and turned everything in for the final two issues of 2006. So now all I've gotta do is clean my desk and organize my files. See how happy I am? That's Rick Woods, 7D general manager, behind me there. And yes, I made that sign by writing backwards.

The Seven Days office shuts down for a couple weeks at the end of the year, so I'm on vacation, which means I'll be posting a little less frequently than usual.

Here's an extra long linkdump, to make up for my impending absence. Items of note on Vermont blogs this week:

Ann Zuccardy, owner of Vermont Shortbread — someone who had more to do than I did these past couple weeks.

• A different kind of Advent calendar, from Walter at Sugar Mountain Farm.

• Steve Benen of The Carpetbagger Report dissects the controversial White House Christmas holiday card.

• Got wi-fi at your library/cafe and looking for ways to promote it? Jessamyn has a suggestion.

• Outrageouschaos writes an outrageously funny/true post that begins, "I don't know when it happened, but I became an old lady."

• Blogs cause trouble at church. I want to ask, "What happened?"

• From the "What the Hell?" Dept.: Amy Kirschner of Burlington Bread robs a bank with Laurence Fishburne ... in her dreams.

• Robb Kidd of Evolving Peace talks to the owner of a Take Back Vermont sign.

• More pithy observations from Caleb Daniloff, this time on the magic of public space.

• A sublime sketch diary, from the author of the  #1 book of 2006

Since 2014, Seven Days has allowed readers to comment on all stories posted on our website. While we’ve appreciated the suggestions and insights, the time has come to shut them down — at least temporarily.

While we champion free speech, facts are a matter of life and death during the coronavirus pandemic, and right now Seven Days is prioritizing the production of responsible journalism over moderating online debates between readers.

To criticize, correct or praise our reporting, please send us a letter to the editor. Or send us a tip. We’ll check it out and report the results.

Online comments may return when we have better tech tools for managing them. Thanks for reading.
