Monday, April 8

  • Burlington City Council. Shannon v. Paul. Round two. The gloves come off 5:30 p.m. at City Hall Auditorium.
  • After that, at 7 p.m., a newly appointed panel tries to succeed where the Burlington City Council failed by avoiding a lawsuit and completing a mandatory redistricting of the city's seven wards. At Burlington High School. Channel 17 will carry both meetings live.
  • At 7:30 p.m., VTDigger.org presents a talk by Dan Gillmor, columnist for the Guardian, a former Vermont Press Bureau reporter and an expert on new media. Alumni Auditorium at Champlain College.

Tuesday, April 9

  • It's Ben & Jerry's free cone day! Find a cone near you! Or get Mayor Miro Weinberger to scoop one for you at B&J's Church Street shop.
  • The House Judiciary Committee has scheduled a mark-up and vote for 3:45 p.m. on H.200, the marijuana decrim bill. Hope they're done by 4:20.

Wednesday, April 10

  • At 9 a.m., the House Judiciary and Human Services committees hold a joint hearing on S.77, the watered-down right-to-die bill passed by the Senate earlier this session.
  • Gov. Peter Shumlin's weekly press conference is at 11:30 a.m. at a location TBA.

Thursday, April 11

  • At 7 p.m., the Burlington Ward 6 NPA will hold a discussion with police, university and code- enforcement officials to discuss burglaries, noise and other quality-of-life issues in the South End. At the Dormition Greek Orthodox Church on South Willard St.

Friday, April 12

  • At 7 p.m., U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders holds a town meeting about breaking up Wall Street banks with special guest, Rolling Stone contributing editor Matt Taibbi. At Burlington's Unitarian Universalist Church.
  • If you can't make that, watch Stew Ledbetter and the pundit class on "Vermont This Week," 7:30 p.m. on Vermont Public Television.
  • At 9 p.m., VPT premieres a new film on former governor Madeleine Kunin. Preview here

Saturday, April 13

 

Sunday, April 14

  • Rebroadcast of "Vermont This Week" at 11:30 a.m. on VPT.
