Tuesday, March 6, 10:27 a.m.

Maybe you’re heading to your Town Meeting today, or maybe you’re off to the polls. While you're there, you might see a few of the 50 college students spending the day in school gyms and meeting halls to study democracy and local governance.

We've got you covered right here with updates from around the state starting at 6:30 p.m.

In Burlington, voters will pick one of three mayoral candidates: incumbent Miro Weinberger, Carina Driscoll or Infinite Culcleasure. They’ll also select candidates for a handful of city council and school board races and weigh in on a ballot item about the F-35 basing at Burlington International Airport.

In Winooski, a write-in campaign by Hal Colston turned a two-candidate race for two seats on the city council into a contest. The Onion City and six other Chittenden County towns will also decide whether to move forward with the creation of regional emergency dispatch center. In Barre, longtime mayor Thom Lauzon is not running for reelection, but he still looms large over the race for mayor.

Elsewhere in the state, 38 towns will vote on local climate change proposals and 13 central Vermont towns will decide whether to join a local initiative to build a fiber-optic network. And the Mt. Abraham school board is asking voters, for the third time, to finance a major renovation to the middle and high school building. Voters will decide on a $29.5 million bond for the renovation.
