A Puppygram Valentine from Seven Days

Published February 14, 2013 at 10:17 p.m.

Mabel has had a busy day. She began her duties as a Puppygram pup at 8:30 a.m. this morning. By the end of the day, she and three other dogs will have visited 37 homes and businesses for a little Valentine's Day love.

Around 11:30 this morning, the 5-month-old mixed breed made her rounds to the Seven Days offices, bringing with her chocolates and a rose from Chappell's Florist. Above is the video of her arrival.

Humane Society of Chittenden County volunteer and events coordinator Shayla MacDowell struck on the idea after seeing a similar promotion online. For $45, a puppy would make a visit with a single rose, or up to a $90 trip with a dozen roses. All profits go to the Humane Society.

Orders closed at midnight on February 12 for this Valentine's Day, but MacDowell says that she will definitely do the fundraiser again next year. She also hopes to do other major holidays, provided she can attract volunteers to spread a little bit of puppy cheer.
