Shortly after Tom Murphy graduated from college, he moved to Stowe to become an acrobatic skier. Soon, he found his talents were better suited for the stage. The slapstick comic, who’s toured the globe and taught at Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey’s Clown College and the Boston University Theater Institute, elicits laughs with familiar ploys. Expect unicycles, ladders and lots of tumbles. As Lawrence Van Gelder wrote for the New York Times, “Some people practice standup comedy. Tom Murphy belongs to the fall-down school…he does practically nothing right. That’s why he is funny.” Get ready to laugh your socks off during his Thursday performance in Stowe.
