At night, RJ's is a sweaty dance club. But during the day and into the evening, it's one of the liveliest sports bars in town. It's especially popular on Sundays during the NFL season, and with good reason: You'll find any game you want on one of several TVs. Try the food — there are 40-cent wings every day of the week. You'll be surprised. In a good way.
Akes' Place
134 Church St., Burlington, 864-8111
This classic college-town watering hole — with pool, darts and sports — was your older brother's favorite bar when he was in school here. It might be yours, too.
Buffalo Wild Wings
Burlington Plaza Shopping Center, 555 Shelburne Rd., Burlington, buffalowildwings.com
Sure, it's a chain. But with every square inch of the joint covered in TV screens — including above the urinals — there's not a big game you can't see, wherever you sit. The wings ain't bad, either.
Church Street Tavern
CST is a downtown staple, especially when it comes to catching a game with an oversize beer.
CK's Sports Bar
12 Malletts Bay Ave., Winooski, cksportsbar.com
This traditional tavern — frequented by Saint Michael's College students — boasts a long wooden bar, a large outdoor deck, nightly drink specials and flat screens as far as the eye can see double.
McGillicuddy's Irish Ale House
Tucked next to a shoe store in a shopping center, this cozy pub serves up sports with a side of
solid Irish fare.
The Pour House
1930 Williston Rd., South Burlington, 863-3653
Popular with the locals, this watering hole favors Boston sports teams. The Yankees suck, but the home-style pub fare certainly doesn't.
