Constance J. (Magee) Abeling passed peacefully with her family by her side on August 31, 2015 after a 13 year battle with a brain tumor.
Connie was born in Woodsville, NH on June 7, 1940 to Clayton and Doris (Lane) Magee. She was raised in Essex Junction, Vermont and graduated from Essex High School in 1958. Connie went to work out of High School as a secretary at General Electric, where she worked for 10 years. During her time at G.E. she met her husband, Donald Abeling. They married in 1965 and together, during their 40 years of marriage, raised 3 children while keeping love and laughter in the home. Donald predeceased Connie in 2005.
Throughout her life Connie worked as a secretary, in retail, and as a Relator. Never one to slow down, Connie started volunteering at Fletcher Allen Health Care after the death of her husband. Connie "retired" in 2013 when her health no longer permitted her to work outside the home.
Connie's love of people was present in all she did. She cherished her lifelong friends and continued to develop new friendships throughout her life. She got her love of music from her mother and father and passed this love onto her children. Connie also spent her free time reading, crafting and most importantly, spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her 3 children. Her son, John Jeffrey Abeling, his wife Julie and their children Sarah and Olivia all of Essex Junction. Her daughter, Nickolett Kai& and her husband Robert of So. Burlington, VT and their children Allie Kaigle of Redlands, Calif. and Derek Kai& of Manchester, NH. Her daughter Sharon Derner and her partner Eric Henshaw and their daughter Lily of Wesford, VT.
Connie also leaves sisters, Dottie Jean Geliness of Springfield, Vt and Jackeline (Micheal) Bristol of St. Albans., Vt. Sister in Law Ruth Blatchford of Amsterdam, NY and Brother in Law Francis (Carol) Abeling of The Villages, Florida. As well as, numerous Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews; cousins and many dear friends.
Connie and her family wish to thank the VNA of Chittenden County, with a special thanks to Ellen, Melinda, Charlotte, Jan and Jeanette. Thank you to the staff at the Green Mountain Nursing Home, especially the staff on Cabot Cove, for all their wonderful care this past year.
