Obituary: Eleanor Louise Gaboury

Eleanor Louise Gaboury, age 76 years, died unexpectedly Saturday June 22, 2013, at her home on Maquam Shore.

Born Eleanor Louise Hatfield on November 24, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mildred (Brosseau) Hatfield. Eleanor was raised in St. Albans, VT with five sisters, Carol, Betty, Sally (deceased), Beverly (deceased) and Patricia. She attended Holy Angels Parochial School graduating in the Class of 1954.

On November 24, 1954, Eleanor married Paul Edward Gaboury, they were married for nearly 59 years and raised six children.

Eleanor loved her husband and children dearly and dedicated her life to her family. After raising her children, she enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as "GG". She was a very kind, generous and unselfish woman, always willing to lend a helping hand to a friend in need and put everyone else's needs before her own. She was also involved in volunteer work throughout the community including the Swanton Community Food Shelf and volunteering at the Northwestern Medical Center and the Franklin County Rehab. Eleanor enjoyed spending time with her family, especially gatherings at camp, playing Bingo, cards and watching old movies. She also loved animals.

In addition to her husband Paul E. Gaboury, Eleanor is survived by five of her six children, Paul C. Gaboury (deceased), Robin Gaboury, Melissa and Dale Colgan, Cindy and (Paul Medor, (deceased), David and Lori Gaboury and Christopher Gaboury; grandchildren, Melissa Medor, Nicky and Arthur Houle, Jason and Ashley Medor, Kelcey Colgan, Nikita and Chad Hatin, Eric Colgan, Logan Gaboury and Leah Gaboury; great grandchildren, Brianna Lyford, Jason Medor, Jr., Mason Medor, Mikayla Medor and Gage Rembert.

Eleanor touched many lives as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend and she will be missed dearly. She will be remembered by her family as the "best" grandmother ever.

At Eleanor's specific request there were no public calling hours. A private family funeral service was held Wednesday June 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home. Father Emmanuel I. Ajanma officiated. The Rite of Committal and Interment followed at the Gaboury family lot in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery. The bearers were Dale Colgan, Eric Colgan, Jason Medor, Art Houle and Logan Gaboury.
