Sue Freeburn - August 1, 1955 - October 19, 2013
Cabot lost a fine member of the community with the passing of Sue Freeburn October 19. Sue moved to Cabot in 2006 and immediately jumped into supporting local activities. She became active in the church, serving as secretary of the board and she was responsible for getting the fellowship hall repainted. She also did a great deal of that work. Sue helped with fundraising dinners for the church and with advertising and programs. She brought more modern ideas to a congregation living in the past, said one board member. She moved the church forward.
Sue was a volunteer for Faith in Action in its early days, doing secretarial work and helped teach computer literacy to seniors.
She was an artist and a craftsperson and she loved a project. Her artistic skills were often requested by various groups for designing posters or pamphlets and she never said no. She was responsible for
the Community Calendar for the Cabot Chronicle and occasionally wrote articles and helped advertise local events.
Sue was a town auditor for five years. She was also secretary for the Cabot Planning Commission for two years and as well as serving as secretary for the Cabot Board of Adjustment.
Gardening and flowers brought Sue great pleasure and she enjoyed working part-time at Amandas Greenhouse. She enjoyed being a member of the "Cabot Homemakers" and she loved kayaking and camping trips with her Cabot friends. Eventually Sue built her dream home off Whittier Hill. It had a beautiful view and she surrounded it with gardens. She spent her last months there and her only regret was that she could not live in Cabot longer.
Arrangements are in the care of des Groseilliers Funeral Home Church St. Hardwick.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sue's memory to Central Vermont Home Health and hospice, 600 Granger Rd., Barre, VT 05641.
