Fresh off the recent recommendations from the citizen advisory committees that Al Jazeera English be kept on the air on Burlington Telecom, the Defenders Council of Vermont has scheduled a press conference for 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3 in Burlington City Hall Auditorium, asking that the matter go to a public referendum in the November general election.
According to a Defenders Council of Vermont press release, the referendum will read as follows:'Should Burlington Telecom enter into a contract with Al Jazeera English, provided reasonable and agreeable terms can be reached by Burlington Telecom management?'
Great. More media fireworks just in time for Independence Day.
