Good Fit
Mangled ankle ligaments, damaged Achilles nerves — I juggle more health issues than a gimpy ex-football player. But I finally found much-needed help to ramp up my fitness routine without aggravating old injuries or adding new ones. Personal trainer Dave Meek, fitness director at Williston's Sports & Fitness Edge, is helping me get stronger than I've ever been. His technique? To be blunt, kicking my ass. But smartly, safely and with the abundant good humor the always-smiling Brit brings to all his work around the health club.
Meek's alphabet soup of top professional credentials is less important than how intensely he focuses on what a client needs. Goals sometimes go beyond building muscle and losing weight. But don't expect him to go easy on you when you're stressed — intense physical challenges can distract a worried mind. Bonus: nice biceps.
