Re: “The Cannabis Catch-Up: Does This Vermont Weed Bill Stand a Chance?

why can't use that tax money to fund education programs, weather it be helping off set the cost of higher education for state residents, or helping schools pay for better equipment to educate our current and future students. Also fix infrastructure (roads, waste water, etc) and other avenues of possible lowering the taxes on the everyday Vermonters. If me buying legal cannabis can help fix things around Vermont i am all for that. I just don't want to see this tax money be wasted on programs that accomplish nothing for our states future.

The American Revolutionary war was partly fought because of taxation without representation. So now we had a higher taxation with representation, so are we any better off?

Re: “The Cannabis Catch-Up: Does This Vermont Weed Bill Stand a Chance?

The state just wants to get the most money from regulation of this product. That will just entice people to keep getting the weed through other means.

2021?? Why not institute a 5-year study of all the possible ways weed may harm anyone doing anything, anywhere?

No rush on the answer, I'm hopping in the car to give my tax dollars to a weed retailer near me, just over any border.

Re: “The Cannabis Catch-Up: Seeing Through the Haze

I think the one thing that needs to be regulated above all else, is the governments endless overreach into every last aspect of our lives, in order to extort revenue from us in every way they can contrive.

Anderson just wants to make sure that whenever someone gets pulled over for, well, anything at all, the cop can then go on a fishing trip to test test away and see what other career enhancing revenue makers he can come up with. I think I'm going to start insisting that any cop that pulls me over, take an on the spot steroid test & a psychological stability test, before I talk to him any further.

Re: “The Cannabis Catch-Up: Seeing Through the Haze

Tom Andersons position is just puzzling but typical of law enforcement. A high percentage of Vermonters currently use pot on a regular basis and the likelihood that a big number of the folks who dont are suddenly going to be rushing to pot shops to take up using it is just absurd. Im all for coming up with a reliable way to test for impairment but really, those that are going to drive around stoned are already doing it and the cops seem to be able to figure out when they are impaired and arrest them.
The long and short of this is that prohibition doesnt work and is really just stupid. There isnt any shortage of pot or pot smokers so we might as well regulate it and tax it.

Re: “The Cannabis Catch-Up: Moldy Weed at CVD?

Inhaling smoke from moldy pot can cause pneumonia. Shane Lynn doesn't deny selling moldy pot to cancer patients and others; when confronted about it, he responds "well then, regulate me more!"

Re: “The Cannabis Catch-Up: Numbers Game

The state allows us to grow two plants at any one time..that's slot of pot every 100 days.we really dont need an overpriced state run store.

Re: “The Cannabis Catch-Up: Numbers Game

At least you know what you're going to get. In a store it won't be treated with poison.

Re: “The Cannabis Catch-Up: Numbers Game

As usual VT. maintains their reputation for the highest tax state. Medical marijuana is already way more expensive than street pot. I'll go to Maine for a couple day vacation and buy my pot. Spend money on food and fun. Screw VT.

Vermont Medical Society voted against tax and regulate marijuana legalization, saying it will increase human suffering and state budgetary pressure

"Pay Attention: Distracted Driving Could Boost Your Insurance Rates By As Much As 41%"

"The insurance industry and regulators have to ensure any rate changes they make are justified, so even though cell phones aren't new to you and me, the risks and dangers they pose for drivers have only recently been substantiated and now distracted drivers are really seeing the effects on their premiums."

While virtually everyone uses a cell phone, currently, only "... 16 percent of Vermonters smoked marijuana during the past year..."

Waiting to exhale...inevitably, law abiding citizens will, yet again, subsidize the irresponsible behavior of others.

Another 'new high'.

"Car insurance rates are likely to increase 4-6 percent in states with legal marijuana, a leading insurance industry actuary says."

What a 'rush'.....

Re: “The Cannabis Catch-Up: Will Weed Tourism Take Off in Vermont?

To be fair, it's hard to believe that there can be "tourism" when smoking/vaping/etc is still partially illegal. For whatever reason "Paraphernalia" is illegal and is punishable with a civil citation, therefore using cannabis is technically illegal.

Re: “The Cannabis Catch-Up: Will Weed Tourism Take Off in Vermont?

If the only thing anyone here can think about is how much of a cash cow this can become for the oligarchy, then the state is still as ass backwards as ever. How about removing any and all prohibition because it was unlawful & in violation of the constitution to have one in the first place? Because it is immoral to the point of being criminal to deny people one of the most powerful natural medicines on the planet? How about getting rid of the cash cow of corruption where people are thrown into the prisons for profits system for fictitious crimes that never harmed anyone?

Re: “The Cannabis Catch-Up: Will Weed Tourism Take Off in Vermont?

It won't take off until it is legal at the retail level. With all the corruption etc It's almost amusing that
weed tourism is hitting rock bottom . With a huge assist from the trump administration, what a total
embarrassment.
