Re: “Bible Study on Aisle Three: Church's 'Pushy' Tactics Spook Vermont Shoppers

Hi @Jacey, here's a link to the press release. The link is a bit long and goes to the department's Facebook page. I hope it helps: https://www.facebook.com/SouthBurlingtonPo…

To the author, where can we read a copy of the South Burlington press release? My google searches have turned up nothing.

Re: “Bible Study on Aisle Three: Church's 'Pushy' Tactics Spook Vermont Shoppers

I feel terrible for Michelle Ramirez, who says the WMSCOG is a "profit-making global enterprise" that pressured her to donate more than $100,000 and led her to "believe that terrible things would happen to her if she used the Internet to conduct research on World Mission New Jersey,"

Re: “Bible Study on Aisle Three: Church's 'Pushy' Tactics Spook Vermont Shoppers

The World Mission Society Church of God is a doomsday cult out of South Korea. They believe that a 74 year old DIVORCED Korean women named Zhang Gil Jah who is alive today, is literally GOD.

Re: “She's 63 and Just Got Adopted Into One Bigger, Happy Family

I had Richard Happy as a guidance counselor back in 1969 I'm guessing but he was a great man back then and I knew another one of their foster daughters who's name was Jennifer if I remember correctly

Re: “She's 63 and Just Got Adopted Into One Bigger, Happy Family

Hi! I'm an adoptee and I know a fair bit about adoption. I'm confused by your line that "unlike child adoptions," adults all have equal say in the process. Maybe this isn't true in Vermont (I've only lived here for about 3 years), but in most cases, when a child reaches the age of 12, the court equally weights their desires along with the adopting parents. Once a child in foster care reaches a certain age, they are given agency to accept or reject an adoption if they choose to. A lot of kids who "age out" do so because they chose to.

Infants and young children don't get a say in adoption proceedings, but older children who can articulate clearly and reasonably often DO get a say. It's rather misleading to say that ALL child adoption works that way.

Re: “'Til Death Do Us Pay: Legislators Consider Divorcing Alimony Law

Vermont still has some of the most punitive laws in the country. The Courts assign a "winner" and a "loser", which bankrupts families and causes generational emotional and psychological scars. Families are torn apart. There is a better way to make divorces more amicable and equitable for all parties, Vermont needs to join its neighbors in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and the rest of the country and adopt Alimony Reform! Visit us at www.vtalimonyreform.com and help change the law!

Re: “'Til Death Do Us Pay: Legislators Consider Divorcing Alimony Law

I pay alimony to my ex. She prentended she could not work or earn her high shool diploma because of here disability. Yet she is currently going to school and working. I have custody of our child, receive no support from her. I have to pay for his college education also. The laws are a disgrace. This is not even Biblical alimony. This is extortion.

Re: “Hunting Foes Want to Snare Seats on Vermont's Fish & Wildlife Board

According to a comment by one hunting, trapping proponent, F&W was brought to it's knees in an attempt to "re-establish bears, deer, turkey, beaver, otter, fisher, martin & bobcats in a state that was devoid of these mammals." (A turkey is not a mammal.) Did all those species commit suicide or succumb to Vermont's proud hunting & trapping tradition,' is my question.

Re: “Backstory 2018: Seven Days Reporters Reveal How They Nailed the News

Most of the reporting from the News media in VT is propaganda bordering on brainwashing. Seven Days is refreshingly honest in reporting. It was pretty disappointing how a certain local outlet deleted their comments section after being sold.

They're wasting their time in Vermont when the real sinners are in New Hampshire.

I am surprised she would give them her phone number. She should have given them a fake number at least.

If there was no money in religion I would bet that ot would disappear in a moment. People who approach you want something from you and its your faith but only of your money come with that.

Re: “Bible Study on Aisle Three: Church's 'Pushy' Tactics Spook Vermont Shoppers

Street preachers and enthusiastic door-to-door evangelists often provoke interesting discussions. I remember as a kid, home early from school, encouraging two Jehovah Witnesses to return that evening to talk with my parents. (I couldn't be there.)

I've heard of multiple exchanges with folks from this church that border on harassment! Glad to see some reporting on it!
