Re: “A Truck Plows Into Bessery's Butcher Shoppe

Seven Days... why is this the only article I've seen on it. Why didn't more news outlets cover it? Burlington Free Press?

Paco - you're being a sleaze bag. Like - seven days already turned everyone onto your habit of being a slime political operative. Leave Debbie out of it.

He could have also been driving under the influence of drugs

Re: “Vermont Baker Gérard Rubaud Has Died at 77

The best bread I've had in Vermont, and possibly the best bread I've had anywhere.

May his starter live on and raise many more loaves for years to come.

Re: “Vermont Baker Gérard Rubaud Has Died at 77

Gerard brought sous-vide cooking to America. "Boil in a bag" was a term that so terrible and discredited the high quality food that was being produced. Gerard was constantly seeking to buy local products (at a time when getting ingredients from California had more clout). His restaurant in Mallets Bay won many awards.

Re: “A Truck Plows Into Bessery's Butcher Shoppe

Cars ramming into small businesses might not be an epidemic but drunk driving is.

Enough is enough. Drunk driving kills. Time we condemn these type of actions and enact tough-on-DUI policies, like Norway has (min 1 year license suspension after first offense--and 0.05% BAC instead of 0.08%).

Re: “Vermont Baker Gérard Rubaud Has Died at 77

Rest in peace. In a state that does not lack for excellent options in the bread aisle, Gerard's stood a notch or two above it all. Eaten alone or shared at a large table with family and friends, easily on par with anything experienced in France. Grateful for all he did and a life lived well. Thank you for this remembrance.

Re: “Vermont Baker Gérard Rubaud Has Died at 77

Very sad to hear this news. Sympathies to his family.

Thanks , Ge'rard, for many happy memories of your marvelous bread with either a bowl of olive oil and chopped garlic and parsley or just spread with sweet butter. You were a magician.

Re: “Dining on a Dime: Philo Ridge Farm

It might be possible that the only people going to this place might have the means and knowledge to drive to some farm in the middle of nowhere (or some otherwise bedroom community outside of one of the more precious places in the U.S.) to eat a meal. It's just as possible that the "farm to table" movement leaves most ordinary folk out of the picture. And, it's even possible that rick folk are kinda frugal.

Re: “Dining on a Dime: Friend's Nepali Restaurant in Winooski

Let me clarify my previous comment. I support this man and his business. I meant that there should've been a more flattering photo taken.

Not sure that photo of him will help the business.

Re: “Burlington's Magnolia Bistro Shuts Down

What goes around comes around. Businesses addicted to low-wage jobs should die. Good riddance. (ps -did anyone else laugh out loud at the irony of an alcohol purveyor decrying addiction?)

Re: “'EatingWell' and 'Cooking Light' Magazines Are Merging

This seems like a strangely positive take on what is actually the layoff of 200 people from the parent company, and a general decline in food and cooking journalism over the last couple of years, including the fall of Lucky Peach and decimation of Saveur.
