Re: “Sanders' 1999 Drug Run to Canada Wrote a New Rx for Political Advocacy

If only our uncourageous and hypocritical U.S. representative had been equally as much a *persistent irritant* to the gun industry as he was to the pharmaceutical industry. Of course, the pharmaceutical industry was an easy target in Vermont, but the gun industry was not; so he chose his targets very carefully and very politically.

Re: “Bernie Sanders' Long Trail to 2020

Bernie has the name recognition to become the President of our great country, to lead all of us to peace, prosperity, and happiness...but unfortunately he is blowing it big time. Here are a few things he needs to do: 1) be a positive leader, not a negative divider, and unite and lead all Americans; 2) Stop the manufactured made-for-TV outrage, Americans are sick and tired of you and Donald screaming and yelling...try leading and persuading for a change; 3) in addition to fighting for the little guy and fighting corruption, endorse and support and persuade America's great companies (Amazon, Google, GS, Exxon, Ford...) to be partners with your proposed programs; 4) Push for bringing good immigrants to the U.S., consistent with our history, but in a responsible and lawful and well managed way in which we DON'T LOOSE our great American Culture; 5) Change our economy and tax structure to be consistent with the fact that the communications and Biopharmaceutical industry are rapidly changing our world, and as such needs to be actively lead and managed to help all Americans to become successful in our new economy; 6) Focus on reducing collegiate costs by rolling out strong online collegiate and skill-based training, and concomitant with that create new niche jobs for American workers, 7) same with health care, reduce costs substantially by creating many new niche specialized jobs eg. lower costs by creating many new jobs in health care with highly specialized niche expertise, along with reduced regulations, improved focus on FDA quality objectives, lower liability expenses, and of course an Amazonized distribution system... C'mon Bernie, this is your chance to make history, tame your ideas and make them palitable and financially viable...and for crying out loud, let folks with medical insurance keep what they have!

Re: “Bernie Sanders' Long Trail to 2020

Yeah,It's called a Dead End Trail....As a country scrambles to come up with someone who can defeat
The Worst president ever. " Incompetent and inept " and totally immoral and i guess maybe we can't do better than this ? Any standards-ethics left in The USA ? Can we lower The Bar any lower ? Bernie would guarantee
another 4 years for a Monster to be president. Anyone on the left fringes will LOSE to this thing in The White House. From Obama and " Hope " to this.......

Re: “Bernie Sanders' Long Trail to 2020

There's a different poll every day of the week with wildly different results. The fact of the matter is that the vast majority of people don't have the election on their radar screens. It's frankly hilarious to watch CNN with their panel of 8 talking heads hashing over every single aspect of an election a year and half away. But it sells I guess. What voters will come to realize is that their favorite candidate will change their minds on the issues two or three times before the Iowa caucuses. Yes, Medicare for All, no medicare for all. Yes, eliminate the insurance companies. No, don't eliminate the insurance companies. You wonder when some of them will ever put a pin in it and decide on a point of view. With Bernie there's no wondering.

Re: “Bernie Sanders' Long Trail to 2020

Thank the heavens that Bernie has fallen in the polls. He has fallen to 2nd, third and even fourth place in one poll.
The last thing our country needs is a political extremist. As president.

Biden has my vote.

Re: “Stickin' to His Guns? The NRA Helped Elect Bernie Sanders to Congress. Now He's Telling a Different Story.

"@knowyourassumption: You concede that politicians are ultimately statist thugs, but evidence support for 'gun control' all the same? Your cognitive disonance is noted."

First, nice try, but I never said anything like "all politicians are ultimately statist thugs." What I said is that Bernie and Trump are hypocrites and liars, and many of their followers are blindly loyal and don't want to hear anything critical of their idols. That is a far cry from saying "all politicians are ultimately statist thugs."

Second, whether or not all politicians are "statist thugs," the idea that we're all gonna need assault rifles so we can rise up and overthrow "the gub'men" is silly.

Re: “Stickin' to His Guns? The NRA Helped Elect Bernie Sanders to Congress. Now He's Telling a Different Story.

Gun nuts like Freedom to Think and Pave Pusher can't even agree whether gun violence has gone up or down, and they can't even agree whether firearms restrictions have increased or decreased.

Freedom argues that restrictions have soared (i.e., fewer guns) and gun violence has increased

PP argues that restrictions have lessened (i.e., more guns) and gun violence has gone down.

And they're both arguing that the answer is reduced restrictions.

@Poldham: "We are in the midst of a horrible epidemic."

When did this "epidemic" begin? When did it grow?

While firearms ownership and carry restrictions have been rescinded, and sales soar, crime rates (including murder) have trended steadily downward for nearly 30 years. And accident rates have dropped steadily for far longer.

Well, not quite.

"What I cannot and will not defend is the proliferation of paramilitary assault weapons that were designed solely for one purpose: killing human beings," he said, referring to the AK-47 and nine other firearms the bill would ban. "These are not hunting rifles. These are killing machines."

B. The Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting. It is, in fact, specifically about preserving Citizen ownership of actual weapons of war, to be used against a tyrannical government, or invading force. Self-defense is a peripheral benefit and application.

Re: “Sanders Disputes Seven Days Story During Democratic Debate

*The man stands for all that is good and right.*

He stands for one thing and one thing alone: power and money for Bernie. We*d have a Democratic president now if Bernie cared more about the country than himself.

*We tear down our own candidates over minor issues instead of looking at the big picture.*

Many of us ARE looking at the big picture and believe this old, raging narcissist is a terrible candidate and would make a terrible President.

Re: “Sanders Disputes Seven Days Story During Democratic Debate

Not sure why everyone is holding Bernies feet to the fire over an interpretation of something he said years ago. The man stands for all that is good and right. His stance on the issues is the only one I can accept and hes been fighting for us for years and years and years. Its a bummer how short-sighted, vindictive and tribal everyone is when it comes to politics. This is why democrats cant function and why disgusting trumpian trolls manage to snake their way into office over and over. We tear down our own candidates over minor issues instead of looking at the big picture.

Re: “Bernie Sanders' Fundraising Slows, With $18 Million Haul

What fantasy land does Donna Boutin inhabit? I'd like to see one shred of evidence for the poppycock she's spouting. As the volunteer who opens most of the campaign's mail, I can categorically confirm the small donation levels and the broad base of Bernie's support. We reject any business check that comes in.

Re: “Bernie Sanders' Fundraising Slows, With $18 Million Haul

$18.00 a pop my butt.. he is getting money from foreigners and big pharmacies. The real question here is how much of this $18 million will go into his back packet ?!!!? Just like the money he got from 2016. Went right into his back pocket along with the pay off to leave the race..He has no intention to be president. heck, he doesn't even do his job as senator.!!!! Jeff Weaver is so full of it.. wonder how much he's putting in his pocket???

"And despite Bernies hypocrisy, many people in Vermont will still vote for the guy"

Oh, yes, his fanatics are nothing if not blindly loyal. Like Trump's.
