Re: “Old Dock House Restaurant and Marina

What was once a fun place to take the ferry from Charlotte to and get a good meal in a nice atmosphere, has sadly lost any value based on the very poor quality of the food.

My wife and I have been coming here every two to four years since our first date there almost 30 years ago, and then getting engaged there a year later. While the quality of the food there has gone up and down over the years, it was always edible and often quite good.

Yesterday was a different story. We took our 5 year old grandson across the lake to get lunch while telling about our first date. The food we got was, unfortunately, nothing like it used to be. We got peanut noodles that had no flavor at all. We also ordered a artichoke crab dip. There was no crab we could see, a few pieces of artichoke, and greasy melted cheese, all of it swimming in grease. The pita bread points were so hard, you couldn't bite into them. I ordered fish and chips to share with my grandson. Thankfully, he wouldn't eat it. Even though it was extremely hot, it was soggy and the breading was not at all crisply. The fish tasted old. To be fair, my wife's chowder was edible, but may have come from a can.

The best part of the meal was the package of oyster crackers.

Re: “The Archives

My wife and I really had a lot of fun here. There are a lot of games (nothing new though, so don't come in expecting that). The staff was awesome and made great drinks. We suggest The Archive and the F**king Vodka Drink (and Gansett tall boys of course). A couple of games ate tokens, but over all most were in great shape and a blast to play. I'll be here in a second the next time I end up in Burlington.

Re: “Sugarsnap at Technology Park

Sugar snap closed their cafe at Technology Park leaving multiple clients without any breakfast/lunch options. They decided they were making more money catering and closed the cafe! They didn't consider all the people that depended on their place for lunch or a cup of coffee . They even blocked off the seating area which is separate from the kitchen and prep areas so we can no longer sit in the abandoned dining area which is blocked off now by two ugly fake trees and a magazine rack which shows they don't want us there.
Multiple people are reaching out to the mgt of our building to see if they can be evicted and a deli/food service restaurant that actually wants to serve us can open a cafe here! Shame on you sugarsnap!

Re: “PK Coffee

Great lattes with local milk, the Cortado is my favorite! Oh and they make their own almond milk. They don't talk about it but most of the stuff is made in house with local ingredients.

Re: “One Radish Eatery

The migas with chorizo is excellent. Super friendly and quick service, our waitress was a local and had some great suggestions for the rest of our day in the area. We'll be back!

Re: “The Spot on the Dock

Even though they were busy on a Saturday evening at 6, we got a seat outside right away. It took our server almost five minutes to arrive, but when she did, she apologized and the service was top-notch thereafter. The appetizer, avocado fries with chipotle dip was yummy. The drinks were great! The entree, we both had the ahi, was perfect. A great experience!

Re: “Mister Sister

Dull, dull, dull! Been there a couple of times and the place has been almost empty. The owner has managed to insult and offend many people on both sides of the very public battle that he waged with the Trans community over the name of the place. Too bad, it could have been a good place if it had someone different running the place. Now it's just tired.

Re: “Social Club & Lounge

Would rate 0 stars if i could, this place is absolute trash. Shame it's a stain on the otherwise impressive Burlington nightlife. Treat their musicians with contempt (don't pay) and sometimes violence. Not surprised if it gets shut down soon.

Re: “Drifter's

Best food for the best price in town . Creative without being overly "foodie" . The patio wasn't yet open when we were there . Hope to enjoy it when we return .

Re: “Drifter's

The most amazing food. Everything is fresh, creative and works really well together. They could easily charge $5 more for everything. You will not be disappointed, the food speaks for itself.

Re: “Mister Sister

Transphobic name, owner who won't put down his ego for 5 minutes. Sounds like a great place to hang out.

Re: “Burk's BBQ Truck

Great BBQ in the Northeast. Been going since they opened last year. Ribs are fantastic and the brisket is exceptional as well. Fries are very tasty. Always quick and friendly service each visit.

Re: “Blue Paddle Bistro

Ate there last night...still surprised after all these years at how popular this restaurant is. Only surprised because we arrived at 5 pm and requested a table on the first floor, they were all booked. However everyone was most gracious and decided to give us a table that was reserved for 6:30:hoping we would not need more time than that. Since it is a ride for us from South South Burlington we go there in the summer. The food was excellent the service superb, and one of the partners was running around doing everything, including very personally thanking people like us who are not regular customers for coming in.
Who could ask for anything more?

Re: “Jolley Doughnuts (food truck)

OMG! That's it! The maple glaze is to die for. And the chocolate sugared donuts are superb! Oh, so delicious! And very reasonable priced too! Do yourself a favor and get some. You won't be sorry!

Re: “Drifter's

Fresh creative local food at a great price. Atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. Friendly staff and an open kitchen allows you to see your food being prepared. Beer, wine, ciders and mead available. We have been many times and will keep them on always on the top of our list.

Re: “McGillicuddy's on the Green

0 I rate this establishment a big 0! The day manager on Sundays is very discriminating, loud and clearly caters to certain people.
The rules on dine in change all the time... which is fine. However annoying yet also based on certain individuals. They do not offer an all you can eat dine in only deal.... therefore you come in before a certain time and get the reduced price. That's a law and quit frankly. The manager needs to read up on this because the third time is a charm and verbal threats of bodily harm to a paying customer who goes there often should not be subjected to wishy washy rules. Don't even get me started on the details this should be enough to turn yourself away ! Manager and owner will be charged !

Re: “Istanbul Kebab House

Tired of the restaurant week restaurants promising the moon and ending up disappointing, we tried Istanbul kebabs for a take away dinner. While not the finest kebabs I've ever head, the meat was flavorful and distinctly kebab. Served with a tasty assortment of onions, salad, and red cabbage, everything came together well and was definitely more satisfying than the rest of the weekend had been. Falafel were decent, again nothing distinguishing, simply good solid fare. Their variant of tzatziki, while thin, made a nice finish over the dish. Overall, would definitely consider as something to take home for a weekday meal.
