Re: “Protest Planned at Franklin Graham Event in Essex Junction

I could care less what this evangelist has to say......

Regardless of his message he has the right to assemble and freedom of speech! To deny any person of this is were fascism really lies. If you don't like his message you don't have to listen to it.

What is really scary is forceable suppression of an opposition and denying any person the right to express themselves.

Re: “Protest Planned at Franklin Graham Event in Essex Junction

I'm sad that there's a enough of a market here in Vermont for these con men to schedule a visit.

Re: “Vermont Senate Looks to Divert, Not Raise, Clean Water Funds

There's a hole in our future, and that hole is a massive degradation of our only source of food, water, air, and shelter (aka the physical environment) and the ability of our kids to have a healthy and sustainable future.

Re: “Protest Planned at Franklin Graham Event in Essex Junction

Franklin Graham and his Right Wing/White Supremacist brand of "Christianity" is on his way here to fire up and fleece the rubes. Graham is all -in on Trumpism and its fascist tendencies and he is here to wrap Trump in the Bible.

Re: “Champlain Parkway Construction Could Begin by Year's End

Construction about to start this year huh . I'll believe it when I drive on it . There's always one more environmental boondoggle , review or funding issue to be dealt with . I hope to be wrong but for the past 40 years this has always been the case .

Re: “Senate Committee's Proposal to Fund Clean Water Evaporates

Review on Trip Advisor about Lake Champlain last summer:

"We paddled toward the public beach. Laid on our boards to talk, enjoy the view... started drifting toward shore, only to have beach patrol say the beach was closed due to raw sewage. We were a little freaked out. But didnt let it ruin our day. Just got out of dodge!

The staff were super nice and let us shower when we got back in. But apparently it happens frequently (ewww)."

I wonder how that affects tourism.

Re: “New Marina to Open Saturday on the Burlington Waterfront

Did you know Perkins Pier won a national million+ dollar grant but was passed over by 2/10s of a point by this private marina, privatizing our waterfront for upper class yacht owners, at $4-8k a year in an entire opaque and non-transparent public improvement process? Ive made record requests for the documents and been denied it - how do they score and why did this one win out by such a close margin without bringing the two finalists to the public?

Re: “Scott Signs Bill Hiking Legal Smoking Age to 21

If nothing else I hope this will encourage young adults to get out and vote. Vermont used to be a state about freedom and respecting peoples rights. Now we are the socialist nanny state.

Re: “Scott Signs Bill Hiking Legal Smoking Age to 21

Re: “Scott Signs Bill Hiking Legal Smoking Age to 21

The progressive governor joined his fellow progressives once again. I am anti-smoking personally but the government has no right to restrict a legal adult's freedom for three years. The nanny state forces its will again.

Re: “Scott Signs Bill Hiking Legal Smoking Age to 21

These laws are about protecting their income stream from the taxation of cigarettes and nothing else. It was already illegal for kids to get vapes. They just want to make all of us "undesirable types" to pay a ton of taxes and to die Young from smoking. If they actually cared about people they'd support vaping as it is clearly safer that combustible tobacco.

Re: “Walters: Facing Deep Divides, Vermont Legislators Delay Adjournment

It appears Mr. Greenberg's post was written for him by the Vt. Democratic Party propaganda committee.

"Here's one way out of the impasse. Democrats should pass the strong bills their constituents elected them to pass."

What's a "strong" bill? And there's no monolithic set of bills that the Dems in the legislature were "elected to pass." Are those the same bills that Governor Scott was "elected to veto"?

"If he votes (sic) the bills, Democrats will at least have done what most Vermont voters want."

The largest single group of Vermont voters in the last election voted for Scott. Only a couple of thousand voted for Mitzi Johnson and only a few thousand voted for Tim Ashe. It's simply not valid to declare that "most Vermont voters" want whatever Johnson and Ashe dream up. Scott was overwhelming reelected after vetoing virtually all legislative proposed tax increases in 2018.

"If not, we get the strong bills we deserve." Again, what is a "strong" bill? And why do you "deserve" it when the voters overwhelmingly rejected the Dem candidate for Governor?

"The governor's basic position is clear, if unpopular." Unpopular? You mean, the guy who got over 150,000 votes in the last election, representing 55% of the votes case?

"Most Vermonters disagree"? Really? Then they could have voted for Hallquist for Governor. But they didn't.

"But it does mean that if you're a Democratic legislator in a marginal district, you have an excellent chance of losing YOUR next election." Vermonters who are trying to save Vermont from its self-inflicted economic woes can only hope you're right on this one.

"Do the right thing." Yes, Governor. Do the right thing and veto the Dems plan to destroy the little that's left of the small business economy in Vermont.

Re: “Walters: Facing Deep Divides, Vermont Legislators Delay Adjournment

Funny to see John comment that the Governors basic positions are clear in the same post where he bemoans the Governor being silent about what he will and won't accept.

The circular firing squad is fully engaged.

Re: “Bennington Rep Has an Outstanding Arrest Warrant in Illinois

parabellum, can you please cite your source for that accusation about former Rep. Morris? That is either a baseless lie you made up to comment here or something you heard from an unreliable source and decided to take as truth and repeat. Either way, your comment stinks of pure racism as this is simply not true. I know the legislature's small operations staff and they are totally shocked at this claim, so I would love to know what you know that they don't!

Re: “New Airport Noise Map Is Not Expected to Lead to More Home Demolitions

So the city of Burlington can buy houses in South Burlington on the cheap using federal dollars, can outfit them with soundproofing, and then flip them? And the houses that have been demolished? Whats the plan for those lots? Hotels and what else? Sounds like what it always has been... a big profitable development land grab with help from the sound of freedom crowd...

Tax, Tax, Tax. There is a limit to how much you can tax but the elected legislators still have not caught on. When will the voters get fed up and vote them out

The black woman resigned because she was padding her expense reports and they caught her. Keep up with the news. And interestingly enough 7 days does not report the charges against Hoyt were dropped.....
