Eva! Here is a long overdue thank you for this well-told story. You hit the nail on the head about this tradition in Vermont. We use this as a regular example when we go to explain the music to folks who haven't experienced it before. You are amazing.
Thanks so much Jessica! I'm really privileged to do this work every week. :) (sorry for this slow reply!)
Eva Sollberger and her Stuck in Vermont series are wonderful treasures.
I don't know which I love more... the lights, or that bus load of seniors! Thanks for another great story, Eva!
Flint Motorsports In West Topsham Vt also has a light display Like this one Look us up on facebook @ Lighting up West Topsham Our lights will be on from Thanksgiving unit December 31ST from 5 PM-9 PM with 3 different shows running on different nights and you can see all the shows on Sunday nights only. So stop by and tune your radio to 98.7FM to hear the music and if you could please make a donation to the east orange church. The bucket is next to the tune to sign.
These young ladies, and others like them, are indeed the future. I hope they continue writing, performing, speaking out, and mentoring. Many in older generations could learn a thing or 2 from them. I have no doubt they will go far.
At times, I'm concerned for those who wear hijab not because they want to, but because they are pressured (you can substitute many other representations of religious belief here, where young people are concerned-yarmulke, other headscarves and coverings, kuffi, bonnets and other "plain" clothing and coverings, attendance at religious schools, etc). I have no such concerns here. These are strong, educated young women who are embracing American culture, while retaining that of their ancestors and immediate families. Bravo MGMC
My pleasure! I enjoyed getting to know these talented young women.
Thank you Eva! Thank you MCMG!
Thank you for the wonderful coverage of our event! You guys are amazing!
Horrible place to be stuck,Vermont. Wish I were there still--love the music!
I bet not ONE of these women is a Wiccan. We. Do. Not. HEX. If we did, I'd hex these hags for defaming my religion. I resent this, and not just a little bit - and shame on you, Seven Days, for promoting this bigoted crap.
I'm 58 and wish I could go to a Bard Camp! I'd love to better my harp playing, tell musical tales, and learn the bardic arts. Plus going to Ireland .....all dreams I wish had been available when I was a teen.
Yes. I have the concussion to prove it.
Yikes - was that you I dumped in the drink near the end of the trip?
That is nice job kim i love you guys i have kia frome defort country. I pay her lot of money. She allrady house Borkon whan i got her she was good dog. Good work kim love sharon talk you soon
Thank you so much Cathleen. I'm so very sorry to hear about your son. It is heartbreaking how many people have been affected by suicide and depression. I hope that by talking about this more openly, perhaps more people will feel confident enough to come forward and ask for help when they are struggling. Thanks so much, wish you the best, Eva
This story is so well done; thank you! My heart goes out to each of these families and all those who are suffering silently. I too lost a son to suicide 6 1/2 years ago. He was 19 and held all of the amazing characteristics that are described about of those who die by suicide. He had a great sense of humor, loved and cared for people, and masked his disease as well. My hope for people is that they DO talk about their loved ones, get educated about signs of suicide and then talk with your friends about it. It may save a life.
Blessings to you Eva (and to all of us that are left behind)
To ga or not to ga, it's Greek to me.
Such a great story. We're very lucky to have SIV. I don't feel stuck though.🙀
