Re: “Vermont Muslims Strengthen Ties During Ramadan

Did these Moslems tell the author of the article that Moslem charity is for Moslems only? They are forbidden from giving charity to kafir, that's infidel for the uninformed. Read the Koran for all the other rules and ways in which Moslems are taught to mistreat non-Moslems. They will deny it to your face, as Islam allows them to lie (taqiyya) to kafir, but it's all in Islam's foundational documents. Islam is wholly incompatible with Western civilization, and we ought to halt all Moslem immigration to this country.

Re: “Vermont Muslims Strengthen Ties During Ramadan

My family are Orthodox Christians from Syria. I posted a comment expressing my concern about Muslim immigration because of Muslim bigotry toward other religions, a fact that my family knows from experience. Why did Seven Days take it down? Why is this site afraid to publish the truth?

Re: “Vermont Muslims Strengthen Ties During Ramadan

Dear VermonHeart. Seven days might have taken down your posts because Vermont is full of liberals to whom Islam good, Christian bad. Of course, the facts are, Islam is the most violent religion in the world, in parts. So that does not fit with liberal thinking...so they do what they always do when they find a contradiction. They ban it.

Re: “Poké Bowls Coming to Williston

As a Hawaiian I am really excited to see an authentic poke restaurant open up in this area! It's well past due!

I'd also tell the gentleman who commented before to be a bit more open-minded.

Id encourage all my fellow vermonters to give this place a try it looks legit!

Very refreshing to see a local, family-owned restaurant opening in Williston! So excited to have the opportunity to try something new!

Re: “Big Things Are Happening for Gretel-Ann Fischer

I'm glad that Gretal Ann did not win. I can not support someone that deliberately sabotages her competition. I said to myself, Gretal Ann must be extremely insecure if she feels the only way she can win it to play dirty. I would not support her or her bakery.

Re: “Franny O's Becomes Sugar House Bar & Grill

This is the saddest news I have ever heard. Franny's was the best bar in Burlington!

Re: “Juice Couture: In Burlington, It's Cool to Drink Your Vegetables

Seems odd to have folks who clearly do not like juice, review all the local juice places. Since they dislike pretty much everything, this just comes off as unnecessary mean bashing of perfectly innocent local businesses. would expect better of Seven Days.

Re: “Big Things Are Happening for Gretel-Ann Fischer

WHAT A LOW-LIFE!!! Wow, is this where we've come where a cheater like this person could be praised by anybody??? If this lady would blatantly cheat while on national TV I can't imagine what she does behind closed doors in her bakery. I'm sure she lies cheats and steals from customers. She's an embarrassment to Vermonters, we are honorable, good people. You, my dear, ARE NOT!!!!!

Re: “Big Things Are Happening for Gretel-Ann Fischer

I am so glad you did not win, Gretel-Ann. To deliberately cheat and sabotage others and then say it was justified because of competition? You, my dear are what is wrong with people these days. Win at all costs... To hell with anyone else. "I deserve everything because I played most strategically" What a load of CRAP!. What did you teach your children? Your staff? Your crocodile tears were annoying throughout the whole competition, because out of one side of your mouth you are crying poverty and how you needed the $ to keep your shop open. Then out of the other, you slag everyone around you and throw them all under the bus. You are not to be trusted. Jenn was an outstanding competitor who showed strength of character and never compromised basic morals just to win. She tried her best with what she had and I think she should have won the whole thing. I somehow think it didn't even occur to her to cheat, whereas that was what you chose to do throughout the whole competition. I am no fan of Ashley, but I think Buddy was wise not to choose you as the winner. If you were capable of being that deceptive and justify it, how could he trust that you would not sabotage his business with cheating, lying and stealing? Then you sealed the deal in my eyes by saying that Buddy was running a daycare when he chose Ashley. You are a sore loser. You sank yourself into quite a pit of distrust by your own choices and actions.. and I would not step foot into your bakery even if I was starving.......pathetic!

Re: “Burlington's Bluebird Tavern Has Closed for Good

When they dropped all the entrees from the menu, eliminated the awesome focaccia, and introduced those way too pricey, too small small plates it was only matter of time before they lost all their regulars and turned away all new customers. It really sucks for the staff that the complaints fell on deaf ears. This is a real good lesson for restaurant owners. You need to maintain communications and listen to your customers, instead of letting onsite management double down on bad decisions or allow them to ignore or dismiss complaints.

Re: “Vermont Muslims Strengthen Ties During Ramadan

For suspicious reasons previous posts here have disappeared without reason. Yet very intemperate posts calling specific people "nasty" are permitted. Hmm.

Re: “Juice Couture: In Burlington, It's Cool to Drink Your Vegetables

Totally agree with the above comment. The Seven Days staff clearly just does not like juice, and in no way should be giving their opinion on these establishments. I have been to several of these locations, including Juice Box, Vermont Juice Company, and the mall kiosk Juice Bar...all were absolutely FANTASTIC, serving excellent healthy great tasting juices. Burlington is lucky to have these places finally available...Seven Days should be embarrassed by this article

Re: “Farmhouse Group to Close Burlington Deli

IMHO I always thought that GFM lacked the "Show" that a good Italian or Jewish Deli in NY presents. I never got the feeling in the few times I visited that the staff was extremely knowledgable about the product. When I go to a butcher shop for "fine meats", I expect someone overweight that looks like they've put a few steaks on the grill in their lifetime, and an apron that looks like they know how to cut one of those steaks. If you're going to open a butcher shop, open a butcher shop, or was it supposed to be a deli? There in lies another problem, was it a butcher shop or was it a deli? Still dying for a good Italian or Jewish Deli in South Burlington / Williston.

Re: “A Truck Plows Into Bessery's Butcher Shoppe

Cars ramming into small businesses might not be an epidemic but drunk driving is.

Enough is enough. Drunk driving kills. Time we condemn these type of actions and enact tough-on-DUI policies, like Norway has (min 1 year license suspension after first offense--and 0.05% BAC instead of 0.08%).

Re: “Big Things Are Happening for Gretel-Ann Fischer

I was really disappointed to see her move on to the top three. She should have gone several competitions back. But the worst was seeing her continue forward after deliberately and blatantly cheating. It's impossible to respect a person who does that. Just look at the lessons she's teaching her kids, and her employees. It's OK to sabotage your competition in the name of "competition." Is it really? That's a cop-out and a line of BS, Gretel Ann. You didn't deserve to be in the top three - you're more of a bottom feeder, in my honest opinion. I have no respect for you or your presumably failing business (though I doubt any of the stories you told, along with your big crocodile tears along the way).

Re: “Big Things Are Happening for Gretel-Ann Fischer

All Gretal Ann did throughout the show was show what a terrible person she is. Why people would support her after watching the show is beyond me. She has mediocer talent and showed she will cut corners to get ahead.
