Active since the year 2000, Albany, N.Y., rock band SIRSY make brash rock with pizzazz to spare. Front person Melanie Krahmer, who sings, drums and manipulates electronic samples, has talked openly about her two bouts with cancer. “It doesn’t define me, but it’s definitely a part of me,” she told Rochester City Newspaper in 2019. “Like a Drum,” the opening song and title track from their 2019 EP, is a commanding proclamation of empowerment.
