An Evening with Siri: Susan Cameron Bennett

An Evening with Siri: Susan Cameron Bennett

    Tools

    Fri., July 20, 6 p.m.

You know her voice from restaurant recommendations, highway directions and oddly beautiful pontifications on the meaning of life. She’s Siri, Apple’s virtual assistant introduced with the iPhone 4S. But did you know that a real live person provided the foundational sounds, words and phrases for the digital concierge’s voice? Years before the world met Siri, voice actor Susan Cameron Bennett recorded countless hours of work that would later be coded and reconstructed for the smartphone software. Also a singer, Bennett and her guitarist husband, Rick Hinkle, present an evening of song and stories about how she became one of the most recognizable voices in history. Bennett performs on Friday, July 20, at the Engine Room in White River Junction. at The Engine Room in White River Junction. Upper Valley (map). $50.
