The Colorado-based artist’s current exhibition at Stowe’s West Branch Gallery & Sculpture Park is aptly named: “Moving Pictures.” The phrase recalls an old-fangled synonym for film, and Harris’ abstract paintings have a decidedly kinetic quality. According to her artist statement, she thinks of her gestural, layered works as maps or environments, “exploring the imperfect, fleeting changes between the natural and the man-made worlds we navigate on a daily basis.” Harris’ canvases invite the viewer to enter and have a look around. Pictured: “Did You Hear That.” at West Branch Gallery & Sculpture Park in Stowe. Stowe/Smuggs (map).
