    At 46 years old, poet Tracy K. Smith already has achieved an epic list of accomplishments. Born in Massachusetts and raised in California, the wordsmith is the author of four books of poetry, including 2011’s Life on Mars, for which she won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, and the 2018 collection Wade in the Water. Her 2015 memoir, Ordinary Light, was a finalist for the National Book Award in nonfiction. Director of Princeton University’s Program in Creative Writing, Smith is currently serving her second term as the U.S. poet laureate.
