Re: “Ridin' High Owners Accused of Dealing Pot From Burlington Skate Shop

Is he guilty of being greedy and stupid? Probably. But since when in America is that a crime?
He isn't selling poison like heroin dealers, crack dealers, liquor stores, any place that sells cigarettes, etc.
Picking your poison is an American tradition and it's not changing any time soon. The above drugs kill masses.
So why outlaw the one drug that kills no one?
Real criminals prey on the weak and inflict damage and harm.
Show me the harm and malice here.
The Federal Gov't should be ashamed. Millions of dollars will be spent on the prosecution of a man with a history of serious traumatic brain injury for selling flowers, basically. Leave him alone.

Re: “Ridin' High Owners Accused of Dealing Pot From Burlington Skate Shop

This is horrible, predatory and an absurd waste of tax dollars. John clearly has a TBI and has reduced mental functioning. He does not pick up on social cues. This is not an excuse, but c'mon. this was low hanging fruit for the Feds and they should be ashamed. Going after him because he is too "high-profit?" Are you kidding me? How many Billions did the Feds let Purdue Pharma bank from Oxy? 67k is nothing. 50 plants is nothing. This man is not a criminal and doesn't belong in jail. Get a grip Feds! I'm embarrassed of our Federal government. It truly is the nadir of democracy.

Re: “UVM Students Demand More Action on Campus Racism

This is so ridiculous.

Nothing says progress like a bunch of coddled, insulated, whiny white children trying to solve someone else's problems. Most if not all have ever experienced racism or prejudice in their upper middle class lives. Do they even have any idea of what they're talking about? Are they actually thinking for themselves?

They are sheep being shepherded by hashtags and self-promotion. This is so whiny and pathetic I'm ashamed to call them my peers.

Re: “No Food for Thought: UVM Staffer Goes on Hunger Strike for Racial Justice

A hunger strike to protest the "racist" UVM administration and a few white pride posters on campus? Is this guy really going to die just so a Black Lives Matter flag can fly year round? Wow. Good luck with that buddy.. I admire your conviction but really think you need to reconsider your "cause." Maybe you should go down to the Southern US where racism is actually prevalent and your actions may actually matter. This whole thing is just political correctness run amok. It's ridiculous. I'm so sick of hearing about "inflammatory remarks" and "bias response teams" and reading front page news about someone posting a flier that didn't conform to mainstream liberal ideals. I'm not promoting racism. I am promoting rationalism and perspective. Are minorities so oppressed in Vermont that we need hunger strikes to achieve "justice"? Get over yourself and go eat some donuts.

Re: “UVM Students Block Traffic to Pile Pressure on University President

The hypocrisy of these protests is unbelievable. This "movement" is nothing more than a group of insulated, coddled, upper middle class children, the majority of whom are white, taking up the latest trendy "cause" for their own self-promotion and self-righteousness. Most have never experienced racial injustice or prejudice in their upper middle class lives. Their attempts at protest are nothing more than to be on the right and "politically correct" side of the trendy BLM movement. They want to exercise their right to free speech while condemning and even preventing the speech of others simply because they disagree with it. How is this not hypocritical?

Part of college used to be about open-mindedness and learning about new perspectives. Now it seems that students only want to hear reaffirmations of what they already believe. They are swaddled in political correctiveness and spoon-fed their own carefully chosen opinions. This is not open-mindedness. It certainly isn't tolerance. It is not progress. It's movement cannot even be charted. The revolution has eaten it's children.
