In all the public forums regarding the white supremacist "Everyone Loves A Parade" mural, the overwhelming majority of the testifying public called for the mural's immediate removal. Were any of this site's trolls there? That the Abenaki people are historically erased or that 93 of the 94 "notables" in the mural are white causes little concern to the Trumpites posting here. Their whole agenda is to "Make America White Again from Burlington's town square to the White House....#noapARTheid
It's not an "idiot" but an anti-racist. If you don't know the difference then start reading and doing less posting. Or relocate yourself to a Trump state
Go Miro. Improve our credit rating so we'll be able to subsidize your gentrification class's whims. As the comments show, there's plenty of capitalist dupes working the mantra that what's good for business will eventually trickle down
Mr. Assumptions.....you still haven't shared with us what you're doing to fight racism. We know you hate people who are but, since it's Black History Month, please tell us what you're doing now (or ever) to eradicate racism?
Hey assumptions, you're confusing artwork with narrative. The issue is the issue I raise. Are the Abenaki erased or not? Are the 92 of 93 "notables" white or not.? Is it an offensive public memorial like the Lee statue or not? Why is obsessing against racism a bad thing?
What are you doing to fight racism in Vt besides trolling web sites to condemn those that are?
Try logic and discourse rather than always posting ad hominem attacks against people you disagree with.................so boring!
Why are Burlington whites continuing the defense of the Marketplace mural which erases 12,000 years of Abenaki civilization and contains a list of "notables" of which 92 out of 93 are white. The mural is our Robert E Lee statue
Re: “Letters to the Editor (3/11/20)”
Ms. Ward doesn't see racism in the "Everyone Loves A Parade" mural even though all people of color are essentially erased from it. She doesn't see sexism even though more than 2/3 of the "notables" are men. She only sees how poor Mr. Hardy's feelings were hurt "by the slandering" from the racist mural's critics. What she purposely ignores is that there was already an existing mural painted on the wall by Gina Carerra that was covered without her permission. This was a direct violation of the Visual Artist Rights Act. Do you have any compassion for her "constitutionally protected speech", Ms. Ward?
