Re: “Solar Flares: Call to Double Vermont's Renewable Energy Capacity Ignites Debate

Sorry but if we really want to electrify Vermont and move away from fossil fuels, solar is not the answer. We would have to cover basically have the State in panels!! It is not practical and way way way way more expensive than, lets say, cheap 100% renewable hydropower from Quebec. And don't give me any of these native lands or environmentally-bad arguments about HydroQuebec. Compare that against the mining for rare-earth metals, massive fossil fuel output of the factories creating these panels, and then shipping these panels all the way to Vermont from China, and you have a wash at best in terms of which solution, solar or hydro, is better for the environment. Even if Hydro is like 5% worse than Solar, it is about 400% cheaper and right in our back yard. These arguments by solar developers are ridiculous. They have benefitted greatly from favorable Vermont regulations. They can't grow easily now because all of the good land is taken!

Re: “Burlington City Council Passes Amended Impartial Policing Policy

Do cops even need to abide by this? Its contrary to federal law, which supersedes local laws. So I don't really understand this...police can and should ignore this dangerous policy. It definitely is a solution looking for a problem. Here is the thing: if someone is here legally, there is no issue. If they are here illegally...well yea that is an issue...we can't just ignore it.

Re: “Molly Gray Kicks Off Campaign for Lieutenant Governor

@KNOWYOURASSUMPTIONS why the heck would we want anyone who has Montpelier experience? It’s not like things are exactly going well bud. It’s a dumpster fire in Montpelier. We could easily kick out the entire state legislature and nobody would even know the difference. Seriously. No idea at this point it Ms. Gray is worth voting for but this State would do itself a great service to bring in new blood.

Re: “Vermont House Votes to Override Minimum Wage Veto

I guess I support this, I really hope it helps some folks, but because there is no hint of a real, coherent economic development plan for the State, it just seems like overriding vetoes and slamming through legislation is a hugely dangerous precedent. It is not a way to govern. The people elected Phil Scott and the legislature should not ignore this. If they, the House and Senate, are not careful, Vermonters might actually start paying much closer attention to local races...
