Re: “Amid Coronavirus, Business Is Booming for Vermont Gun Stores

Does this article really help the current situation?
I see sensationalism wins, journalistic integrity loses with this article. Nothing that I read in this article helps the current situation but fuels a fire and goes against keeping a community from working together.
Why fill the social media and the internet with useless articles of sensationalism. I put this article in with hoarding TP and Food. Do you think those articles helped the situation or made it worst? I will say snowball.
Do you think you provided the community with useful information? My opinion is you just fueled the sales. Was the article sponsored by the NRA or did you forget the disclaimer? I see more and more articles you published as "sponsored".

You should be disseminating more useful information and quashing antagonistic style of articles. The community NEEDS information that HELPS, not divides or hinders.

Re: “Two Recent Cases Put Vermont's Domestic Violence Laws to the Test

H.610 lowers the evidentiary bar for confiscation below what is required for a police officer to obtain a search warrant. That is scary. After reading transcripts of the minutes of several of the committee hearings I would have to say that Grad and Lalonde are unfit to serve on those committees. They were chastised by Judge Grearson over the joke that this bill makes of the justice system. To paraphrase one discussion, just because it is about DV, does not automatically grant a bypass of both US and VT constitutions and the Judicial system. Slap "DV" on a bill and someone could bring back public lynching or the death sentence.

Re: “Vermont Senate Seeks to Revive Vetoed Gun Waiting Period Bill

Mr Greenberg says.."is that ANY life saved is worth more than the small inconvenience.. ".
Is this the "Trolley Problem"?

At face value I agree with the waiting period but using the "to save one life" defense is weak. Really?
By that rational you would agree and support Mr Rodgers silly cell phone ban.

Re: “Legislators Set Their Sights on New Gun Restrictions

Gun rights is not just a "Conservative" movement.
https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/akwv4k/…

ANTIFA even knows it is a right like any other and that most gun control laws target minorities and are racist in nature.

Re: “Burlington City Councilor Revives Noncitizen Voting Debate

Burlington City Councilor Revives ..... Tammany Hall ver 3.0. The Redux.

I am disappointed that 7 Days did not post the reason why the Montpelier Charter Change was punted by the Senate. It is no secret or is this just a pot stirring article?

So many legal reason why this can not happen:

-Vermont is a Republic, not a Democracy
- Vermont is a "Dillon rules" state
-The "Catch-22" clause of the Vermont Constitution
-SS 42. of the Vermont Constitution
-"Equal application" clause of the Vermont Constitution
-8 SCOVT cases setting precedence in one way or the other about voting, citizens or governmental rules on town charters and citizens.

I find the biggest laugh is the argument,"Taxation without Representation" for a reason to pass this. Well those that say that have a reading comprehension issue or ignorance of history. The taxation and representation statement was made by British Citizens, living in a British Colony, paying British Taxes, not being allowed a seat in the British Parliament.

Re: “Sara Holbrook Community Center's Namesake Linked to Eugenics Movement

Renaming the center should not be an option. That type of decision WILL have negative effects on future donations to non-profits.
Who would want to donate or start a charity in their honor only to have it renamed because of something that might be viewed in the future as unpopular.

Example:
John Smith donates $200 million to a new cancer center in his name.

Fast forward to 100 years in the future.....

"John Smith ate meat and that is unacceptable now so we must rename the building."

Be happy that these people donated and end it at that.

BTW You should not buy VW's, that company was founded by Adolf Hitler.
and Planned Parenthood was founded by Sanger, a supporter and researcher of eugenics.
