Re: “Bluebird Barbecue

First time, but won't be the last
My boyfriend and I ate here the other day. We've been trying to get to Bluebird for awhile and finally managed. We got there right after they opened for an early dinner and sat outside - beautiful view! The waitress was very nice and indicated there had been some menu changes (although I'm not sure what) and asked if there was anything that wasn't on the menu we'd like (the menu is a work in progress I guess). We mentioned fried okra and hush puppies (I'm from the South, I love these) and after a bit she came back and said the chef just had a farm talking to him about okra but the he (the chef) wasn't sure it would sell. The sweet iced tea was good - not weak. Not as strong and sweet as in the South but very good. Boyfriend and I got the platter for 2 - brisket, pulled pork, ribs, cole slaw, braised greens (collards), ham n beans, and mac n cheese. The Cole slaw was a little watery but I over heard another waitress explaining they are still experimenting with the recipe. The sides were good - loved the collards and the mac n cheese needed a little extra bite. The meat was fantastic and the sauces were great. This isn't cheap -but everything is made from scratch - even the ketchup! We're planning on going back! Food: 5 Ambiance: 4 Service: 5
